Well the earth does have this little wobble called procession; I personally think because of this the Poles simply move around a bit, which throws everything out of whack. For instance the Antarctic has fruit trees buried deep in the ice that still have fruit on them. And then there is that 600 year old map that shows the exact outline of the Antarctic with out any Ice, describes rivers and bays and so forth, problem is know one new about any of this until the last 20 years or so when satellites were able to take radar images of the actual continent sans the Ice. So how did those old sailors know all about this place only a few hundred years ago?

A. It IS Spring, Thats when it rains a lot and temps fluctuate between winter and summer.
B. Spring started just a month ago and Summer won't get here for another 2 months.
C. You live in Seattle, the grayest, drizzeliest, most overcast city in America.

P.S. If global warming happens to the extent in the movie, it would be Summer already. You should be more supportive of global warming Stanley.

I guess the global warming guys are saying you can't say ther isn't global warming because it's snowing in wherever, or still cold in Seattle... They are basing their info on longer term averages of course.

I am adopting Cied's attititude now though... Bring it On!!!

I have to admit too, that as of late I'm not as totally convinced about the whole Global Warming issue as I was say, a year ago... By that, I mean I'll continue to read -up and stuff and try and have a little more of an open mind about those that dismiss it as B.S. -- but I am all for at least cleaning up the air a little and working on alternatives to petrol.
Just saw on the news where the Arabs busted 170 guys who were going to blow up a bunch of Saudi oil fields... THAT would have SUCKED!

Man, what are we going to do when gas hits $4 per gallon this Summer?!?!

Maybe I'll get a motorcycle for service calls & jobsite visits!

Considering your penchant for accidents that would be a singularly bad plan. Stick with four wheels, buddy, and buckle up.

Yeah, maybe you are right... My last little motorcycle experience was a little rough! Had a Trail 90 Honda as a teen. Was late getting home for dinner one day... racing home, I took a corner way too fast. Flipped the bike, woke up with the bike on top of me with my hand going around and around in the rear "trail" sprocket and chain.
Got my messed up hand unstuck, stumbled home to a very ticked off looking mom and dad at the dinner table... I was afraid to let them see my hand, so I stuck my hand in my front pants pocket. Got in the house and was all beat to hell looking, lots of road rash and a little bloody... My pants pocket was soaked in blood, so my old man said Hey...What the hell!?!?! let me see your hand, son... I pulled out my hand and my entire index finger stayed in my pocket!!! My mom fainted... Turned out fairly O.K. though... they had my finger surgically re-attached. It doesn't work that well except for nose picking!!! LOL!!!

I'm glad I was able to add something to the discussion about global warming.

I'll admit that therre are a lot of hippie dippy nutcases
jumping on the side of global warming, and the usual parade
of stupid celebrities... but take politics out of it.
Take Gore out of it.

Stan, there's just no imaginable way to do that other than to be delirious.

On the surface it sounds good to "go green" and all that's attached to it. But who will dig deeper and consider the ramifications?

To clean the air further, require Detroit to notch back their emissions to a currently improbable level. OK, they figure it out to the tune of another $500-1000 per car. They are already at a huge disadvantage to Japan and particularly Toyota. Do you want to risk the entire auto industry as we know it? GM sells more cars outside the US than here. Isn't that a little bizarre?

Global warming. Great hot button and debating point. We can probably agree that there is a consensus on slight temperature increases this century. We can't agree that WE (as in the U.S. all by ourselves) can do anything to impact the temperature changes. We haven't tried it, it can't be proven that we can do a whit with our "remedial measures", China won't help out, so again, do you want to risk our economy on something that is totally unproven? Billions of dollars that businesses have to pay, that will be passed on to all of us...in this global economy, a businessperson would say we are putting our international competitiveness behind the 8 ball and give even a greater edge to the far east, add to the trade deficit...

You can't separate it from politics because politics unfortunately is all about power and the global warming thing can give power to the party that stirs us up about it and rallies us up to get behind it. Algore is at the head of the list. Regardless of party affiliation, that guy is pretty slimy, don't you think?

Is there anything to this?

I agree on the Simon quote..... but thats about it.

If we started to put limits on products and their emisions we would have to put limits on the product that is being imported not just the product made here. We are a nation of consumers so we should all agree to make small changes rather to worry that as individuals we cant have an impact.

I'd rather not take a chance.

Tom... I guess my concern is this: Let's just say for the sake of conversation... the U.S. totally reduced their pollution etc.. (according to stats we produce around 20 to 22%)...

So, we could drop that % way down...

My concern is that, at the rate of EXPLOSIVE growth with Chinas' economy and their rapid ramp-up of automobile popularity --- they may soon overtake our % in terms of pollution - as well as having a mind - boggling demand for Oil.

So even if we all started hugging trees, riding bicycles and using Solar Energy, there will always be someone else on the planet that will mess things up, unless they can see where things are headed in the long run. It must be pretty intoxicating for the Chinese to go from riding rickety - assed bicycles to owning 500 hp special edition Mustangs and BMW's - so I don't expect them to go back to their old ways soon!

I know that sounds a little fatalistic, and maybe I've consumed too much Global Warming Kool Aide, but aside form the whole global warming debate -- we all need to work together on cleaning up the atmosphere and water supplies of this planet.

I'll confess, I don't ride a bike to work, still love high horsepower cars, and don't plan out my driving or errands very well & waste a lot of gas in the process --- but to see in the news where Petrol will start running around $4.00 a gallon this summer, I wish the world governments could work a little harder at finding a decent substitue for Fossil Fuels --- soon, but hell, even our own government can't seem to work together!!!

...And like I've said earlier --- I AM beginning to look more clearly into the "Global Warming" issue to see if it IS just a bunch of Granola Eating / Birkenstock Wearing / Greatful Dead fans who are "Spinning" a big line of B.S.

don't forget techtonic plates and pangea

but the earth does also wobble. so things were not always where they are now with repect to the sun and the equator (with the wobeling earth so does the equator- the line that is 12h days every day)
