I know I don't need to ask, but I will anyway. Would all of you, including our Canadian and other foreign friends, pray for our country?

You have it.

I was at work, when a coworker told me about it (I did not believe him). We used a VCR connected to a projector to see what happened, we saw the second tower go down, the first went down while the news were showing Washington.

Am currently stuck in the Netherlands, no way to get home until at least Monday. People here are just as shocked as back home. The whole country was huddled around whatever TV set they could find, and I have seen many a tear and somber faces.

This pretty much upset the whole world, I think.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. I almost lost a close friend in this tragedy. He used to work right next door to the twin towers but just recently started up his own company.

This is so all amazing to me - very disheartning. Though I am very fortunate to still have my friends and family with me I know there are many who cannot say the same. I was driving on the freeway listenting to the radio when I heard about the woman who called her husband on the phone and the man who called his dad... I had to pull off to the side of the road. I couldnot imagine calling up a loved one knowing that this would probably be the last time that you would talk to them. What would you say? I made about 15 phone calls from the side of that road! Parents, boyfriend, siblings, random friends - telling them all that I loved them.

It is sad that it often takes a tragdey to bring people together - but I know it strenghtened many perosnal relationships as well as our nation. One last exapmple before I shut up :)

On the 11th I went to go donate blood. In downtown San Diego there were over 900 people lined up, in the cold, waiting for hours to donate blood! :) There were so many people that they turned me, as well as many other away. They told me to make an appointment and the soonest date they had available was a month away! Talk about bringing people together. I was so happily amazed - and I'm sure anyone else who's been hurt by this horrible action will be as well. :)

God Bless,

~Erin

My prayers are for all of those grief-stricken people suffering from this catastrophe and the many others happening daily around the world.

And, as Erin pointed out, talk to the people you love.

Don't wait for a catastrophe to bring us all together. Let's all do it every day!

Smile at the person you pass by. Count to 10 when someone cuts you off on the freeway. Take 3 deep breaths when waiting in a long line at rush hour or when someone says an unkind word.

Most of us are leading pretty good lives compared to the majority of people around the world.

While this catastrophe has caused the world to stop and smell the flowers, let's stop and smell them a little more often even when we're having a good day!

All the people that are regulars here and on the Pronto forum have, as I expected, had the same sentiments, be they Americans, Canadians, Europeans, or whatever. I think that we all felt a certain bond before these tragedies but the expressions of common emotion really bonds us now. Its about humanity, and the reminder this week that its not universal is stunning, even to the most cynical among us.

I don't need to know that those who express the sentiments are not all from America, but it is somehow especially gratifying to know all our world neighbors are in this together. I hope you all know that Americans would feel the same (and have) wherever such tragedy strikes, even were it not on home soil, and we are heartened and buoyed by your support.
