ABC and USA Today are running a poll for the eigth wonder of the world. They include the Grand Canyon, Great Wall of China, etc. One of them is the Saturn V rocket. In my opinion it is the eigth wonder. It is just amazing how Werhner Von Braun and NASA were able to put together this rocket that never once failed in just 10 years. From the first man in space to the first man on the moon in under 10 years was almost unreal. It definitely deserves the title. It was a marvel of engineering of the many who designed and built it.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!

hard to pick one.

The old list (7 wonders) where written almost as a tour guide, the 7 most amazing human made things one can see. Obviously since then the tech has advanced and many have been destroyed by the hands of man or nature.

Even though it is hard to pick one (and the other 7 don't make sense) it is easy to cut some off (In my opinion)

grand canyon/ victoria falls : the 7 wonders are works of human ingenuity, these two are natural wonders. Don't fit in the list.

Saturn V: I know it is your choice, but the goal of a rocket is to fly in space, and so the truly wondrous part of it can't be appreciated

the next get harder:

Venice is unique and interesting, but is it truly a wonder?

Machu Picchu: might have been interesting in its day, but is nothing but ruins today.

The next three are even harder:

I have never seen the Taj Mahal. So it is hard to say if it is the most spectacular palace/building or not.

The Great wall and Panama canal is exceptional and well deserving of this title. (this is where I am leaning, go with something ancient or recent)

After thinking about it a bit more and wanting to vote, I went with Panama. Even though it is not the only canal in the world that can accommodate ocean vessels, it is the oldest and the most well known. It also helps bridge ancient with modern. The great wall is an incredible accomplishment. Bit there is one more (minor) fact of the 7 wonders. They were all the vision of a small time frame. The Pyramids are the ones that took the longest and they were each of one generation. The wall was built over many generations and even dynasties.

A somewhat gruesome fact: It was, in part, financed by the monies received from the bodies sent back for medical research.
