Anthony,

Many thanks for the suggestions, but I've already tried quite a few and I'm yet to come across something that satisfies all aspects - and I'm not sure I actually will.

The compromise of dashes rather than left and right pointing triangles isn't so bad, as you'll see. I've just got to finish off amending all the pages first.

Ever thought of just using gif images instead of text? Solve all your problems there ;)

I am sure it is not, I was just trying to give options. In the end it is just a bit of fun.

How about my making you an offer you can't refuse to change your browser?

(N.B. The easiest option was always to create a table, in say Excel, take a screen image, upload it to a web site (Flickr?) and link to it. The challenge, however, being a complete novice at the game, was to see what I could do with the HTML that Daniel has allowed us to use).

Why not indeed. I can't quite recollect why I chose the arrows method. Perhaps I thought of it as being more aesthetically pleasing than just plain text. Well okay, that and little bit of show-boating.

Indeed it is - the challenge of trying to beat the system.

Thanks everyone for all the interest. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to do me the favour of telling me which you think looks better. Oh, and if anyone's using Apple's Safari browser . . .

option #1

...there's just so much more depth to the teal in the (1700) columns.

Interesting. I've not done anything with that.

You know what, I think you could be right

(i.e if Jim was 4 and now +2 shouldn't that make 6 :) )

I'd be more inclined to want to know how he's gone up when his post count has gone down. Could this be another Enron?

That's because I use Firefox. That said I have, recently, been giving Opera a spin - looks okay, but overall I still prefer FF. Though Opera, like FF, renders the table borders with the 3D look, they are somewhat darker (not quite so appealing in my view) and the triangles don't appear as sharp. (By comparison, by the way, I find IE bland and fuzzy).

Weirdness? Other than playing around with one in PC World I've never actual used one. They certainly look real nice.

Having downloaded what I thought was just an update to the QuickTime player it would appear I've also managed to acquire copies of iTunes and Safari. Now one may think me a little (lot) strange, but I am totally disinterested in iPod, iTunes, iPhone, and iAnything else if it comes to that (well okay, the iMac did catch my eye), but in the context of the T.W.A.T. stats. I thought I give Safari a spin.

Well all I can say is UGH!!!!! Perhaps it performs better on a mac, but on my PC it is horrible. Think I'll be sticking with FF for the foreseeable future.

Yea, I don't get what's up with Apple and their software updates. I have quicktime installed for .mov files. Everytime there's an update for it, it asks me to download iTunes with it.. i mean what the heck, if I wanted iTunes, I'd download it.

That's the odd thing about it. The update dialogue box offered;

  • QuickTime 7.5 update

  • QuickTime + iTunes

  • Safari

I distinctly remember unchecking the the boxes the boxes for ii and iii, yet I still get them.

I figured it was a matter of time before someone took the Fosbury prise from me. I hope the two large century totals keep me in the record books for a while...cause truly...I'm spent.

Thanks for keeping the books djy
