It's recently been proven that drinking lots of coffee is good for the liver of somebody who enjoys the beer time to time... or even heavily!...

Some people drink a ton... Others not at all.

Given the peculiarities of my work pattern (nights 10 – 6), the fact my wife hates coffee (she doesn’t even like the smell), and the differing size of drinking vessel, it’s not really as simple as saying I have x cups a day. So bearing that in mind, the following is a rough guide to my weekly consumption.

Home – Tea
(reasonably strong, milk, no sugar) – Mug size approximately 7/8ths imperial pint.

Weekdays Monday – Thursday*

• Breakfast.


• Mid – Afternoon.


• Tea/Dinner.

Friday*

• Breakfast.


• Mid – Afternoon.


• Tea/Dinner.


• Mid-Evening.


• Late Evening/Night.

Saturday*

• Breakfast.


• Mid – Morning


• Lunch.


• Mid – Afternoon.


• Tea/Dinner.


• Mid-Evening.

Sunday*

• Early Morning.


• Breakfast.


• Mid – Morning.


• Mid – Afternoon.


• Tea/Dinner.

Work – Machine Coffee**
(white, no sugar) – cup size approximately 1/2 imperial pint.

Weekdays Monday – Friday

• Anything between 4 – 8 per night.

Notes:

*These are the regular mugs; it’s possible, depending upon circumstances, that a random one or two might be added.

**Obviously being machine coffee it’s not what I’d prefer (that’d be a strong black filter type), but when covering a 40 odd acre site it’s simply more convenient. I also drink it white because it’s more palatable.

Having experienced it on a couple of occasions, I know what caffeine withdrawal is all about. Not pleasant.

A simple answer from dj? Impossible!!!

dj. A cup of coffee is 8 ounces. If you have a 32 ounce mug of coffee, and drink it, you're drinking 4 cups of coffee. :-/

Also, coffee is quite known to give you a quick pick-me-up, but overall be fatiguing when drinking throughout the day.

Tea, however, even though it also has caffeine, does not give a person the same fatiguing effect.

People who stop drinking coffee altogether, or limit their intake to 1 or 2 cups in the morning, and drink more water and juices find themselves with much more energy. They like the quick pick-me-up in the morning, and then get the rest of their energy from the food they eat and the proper beverages.

One cup has been 8 ounces in Canada since Canada has been Canada.

250 ml is 250 ml.

NO ONE that I know in this great country says to put one cup of something into a recipe and means 250 ml. If they mean 250 ml, they SAY 250 ml.

Wikipedia is a mishmash of the good, the bad and the ugly. In this case, one cup of ugly!

don't drink much of either. No coffee, tea sometimes (after a good dinner out with friends and they have something)

I was going to suggest Greg get a larger cup, but I like your reply better.

I was commenting on Wikipedia saying that we use 250 ml as a "cup" measurement.

Youz guyz use the same cup measurement as we do......... oops, we use the same cup measurement as youz guyz have been using for many more years than we have.

And the "cup" i.e. the vessel that you drink you coffee from is different, obviously, than the "cup" measurement.

Some king or somebody like that decided one day at tea time that the cup he was drinking would be the official measurement, much like the "foot" that youz guyz started.

Silly, silly, silly.

Anyway, I just use my measuring "cup", which happens to be in ounces AND ml's when I cook or bake. It doesn't get much use! LOL

Now, let's get to bra sizes........

I drink about a pot of coffee each morning before work. Then pretty much just taper off from there. Maybe a cup in the evening, but not very consistant. My version of a cup is one of those big Starbuck mugs. Mind you I am very confused, born in Canada, live in USA, and have a British citizenship. So a cup is whatever I have in my hand at the time. lol

Are you sure? Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a web link, but on our regional news recently there was a story of a man born of British parents, (in one of the African countries), who came to this country when he was one year old, spent 14 years in the army, had several jobs after leaving the army, has now been made redundant, but has been denied unemployment benefit because the government don't consider him to be a British citizen. The government, however, aren't completely heartless, if he pays them £600 he can apply.

At a time when we’ve been swamped by an influx of east Europeans (around 600,000 – with the prospect of more to come), stories like this make one feel like forgetting the tea and reaching for the grog.
