Many sites have their servers configured in such a way that pics will only resolve when they are referenced from pages on the original web site. In other words, even if you have the right link for the pic, it won't resolve from this web site.

The tricky part is to know when this is likely to happen, because often the pics will appear to resolve when you preview the post. This is because the pic is already in your cache.
