Unfortunately they've not mentioned the type of battery used nor the connection configuration, but if they've used Lithium Thionyl Chloride batteries perhaps there's some aeronautical/mathematical engineer that's prepared to venture an opinion of the above comment.

N.B.
AA battery = 2.4Ah (19g)

D battery = 19Ah (110g)

Update

Apparently it was Panasonic Oxyride batteries that were used - presently available in AAA and AA sizes only.

I've heard about Oxyride already, they were reviewed at techlore.com...

I haven't been able to find them locally in any of the local stores here in Chicago, so I bought some online. I forget which site I got them from, but I would have used froogle.com to find it.

That Tesla is a "gotta be in my driveway except I can't afford it although it is a great looking car with great technology first on the block or maybe in the country" type of car.
