Curious, What are other Petrol Prices around the world? Where i am petrol has gone up about 17c in the last 2 weeks it is now at 1.709 for 91 unleaded. Is there really that much of a shortage?

If the price you've quoted is per gallon, methinks you ought to consider yourself extremely lucky. I've just done a few quick back of the envelope calculations (taking into account the differences in UK/US gallons and exchange rates) and I reckon that over here you'd be paying a couple of cents short of $6.50 for a US gallon and almost $7.80 for the UK variety.

Over the years i have seen many guys from the USA post about rising gas prices.
Ever wondered why a lot of europeans drive around in funny little cars? Gas price! we just cant afford to run the big gas guzzlers a large amount of ordinary USA citizens drive.
I have noticed a slow shift to more gas economical cars i see on USA TV programmes
Here in the UK it is a bit of Bling to drive around in a big Range Rover as you must be loaded to drive one.

Have any of you guys read any about "peak oil"? If so, what are your thoughts on it? If not, google "peak oil" and do some reading.

Unfortunately it's not just the oil companies that make more; many governments make huge windfalls on oil price rises. So they have a vested interest in keep the price high. In Aust we have two taxes on our petrol - a government excise (fixed) and a services tax (10% on top). The services tax income has been increasing proportionally to the oil price rise

i liive in sydney australia we now pay $1.44 per litre of 91 unleaded and $1.56 for decent fuel so i dont think you should complain
that would be $6.04 per gallon

e-85 in stickney township 2.45 gallon
e-85 in willow springs 2.95 gallon
e-85 in palos heights 2.95 gallon
regular unleaded in summit 3.09 gallon
regular in chicago by my house 3.19 gallon
thank god my truck runs on e-85 and stickney gas station is 1 mile from my house. i save about 10 cents a gallon with lost milage using e-85 at 2.45,
plus i go thru $200 a week in gas for my truck. that many less gallons and $ to support those assholes in the middle east, venezuela etc. i'd rather put corn in the tank than oil.
