Sat down to watch
"The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe" today and came across a trailer for the new
"Pirates of the Caribbean" film,
"Dead Man's Chest". Now I was convinced after
"The Curse Of The Black Pearl" that regardless of whatever
imdb might say, the film was actually based on
Monkey Island - all we need was a character proclaiming, "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate" and I would have split my sides. Having seen the new trailer, I'm now more convinced than ever. Can't wait.
Oh, and by the way, if we have any closet
"LOST" fans here, did any one pick up on the reference to
Monkey Island in the pilot episode? I've done a bit of a search around the various wild and whacky forums and not found anyone else, but then if you've not played the game I doubt if the "in joke" (presumably) would mean anything - playing
Monkey Kombat with a giant robot monkey. Mind you, I must confess to doing something rather nerdy; checking out the various Monkey Islands'
maps to see if they matched
the island. Alas, they don't.
As for
TLTWATW, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but then, in contrast to Harry Potter, I've always been a great fan of the books. Wonder if they plan on adapting any of the others?
PS
I wonder what the
LOST geeks would make of
this. (The significant bit is in the fourth paragraph). Perhaps we ought to send for Sculder and Mully.
