I'm not sure if I posted this before, but I thought it was cute. If you're not into hockey, consider this the SuperBowl!

"A TRUE CANADIAN"

It's Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right at center ice. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbor if someone will be sitting there. "No," says the neighbor. "The seat is empty." "This is incredible", said the man.

"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs and not use it?" The neighbor says "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Stanley Cup we haven't been to together since we got married in 1967." "Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that."

"That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else, a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shakes his head "No".

"They're all at the funeral."

Vixie -

I first heard this joke in January using the Super Bowl instead of the Stanley Cup finals. That'll just about eliminate all potential husbands. Sorry.

Who cares about being married to a Canadian after you pass? It's all those "extras" we bring to the table in those "oh so happy days" (and nights) before that!!! mmmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm!!!

My Canadian expirence:

Okay. So I got on you a little bit about Canadians Greg. I was invited to go up to Seattle and visit a friend this morning which reminded me of this story of my last trip.

First off: I HATE PLANES. ESPECIALLY over water. (*shiver* water!) My first plane trip ever actually was about 4 years back when I was flying to Seattle. Being on a plane was bad enough because I'm closterphobic but this plane was PACKED. And full of what you might ask?? Canadians! Teams of Canadian softball players. All men, and all softball players.

I was about middle way through the plane and had a window seat (which I did not want.) There were two men to my left so I asked one if I could trade them seats because "this is my first time on a plane and I'm really nervous." So they sat me in between these two Canadians who turned out to be father and son. It was like a tag team!! These guys were Non-stop teasing me!
Son: "You know Erin, this airplane was actually supposed to take off about 40 minutes ago! I wonder why it's taking so long. Maybe theres something wrong with it!"

Dad: "Yeah. If I were you I'd go ask the captin!"

eventually word got out to the entire plane and all of them were teasing me. One of the guys had their little son with them (who had to have been about 3) and he had his son walk over a coloring book and some crayons. The kid was the cutest little thing but embarrssing as hell!

Kid: "Here! My daddy says youre really scared and I should let you color. But why are you scared? This isnt scary at all!"

:|

Non-stop from San Diego to Seattle these guys teased me. The son next to me invited me to the some softball game they were going to play and gave me his address so I cold check him out if I ended up browsing into Canada while on my trip in Seattle.

Never checked him out but I did drive into Vancover.
CRAZY!!!! I was almost hit 4 times (once by a bus) and I think 4 guys tried to "buy" me. Got weed thrown at me... I mean it was absolutly crazy! So when trying to leave: Road construction. Could not get out of Canada! While on the detour (my friend was driving and got lost. I would never do that of corse) :) it was beautiful... but Vancover was scary. Especially for a lil' girl like me.

I would love to correctly tour Canada... but I think I'll wait a little longer than 4 years. ;)

Those Canadians on the plane were mean (!!!) but you were right Greg, they brought something "extra" to my trip. :) It was weird because remembering it now... they all seemd so happy! A plane full of happy people... you don't find that very often.

Ha!

Let's see: a vixen on plane that is nervous about flying and possibly somewhat vulnerable because of it.

Hmmmmm.

I wonder why these Canuckies were all so happy?

But seriously, IMHO Vancouver is not a great representation of Canada, nor of the average born and bred Canadian. Many of them are actually quite OK :)

If only I could find a good, sweet, caring, funny Canadian to take me in and show me around Canada...

*sigh* One can only dream....

CV, did you think that It could have been the altitude, and the alcohol that makes us Canucks so happy?, normally we are grumpy, miserable and cold all the time
JUST KIDDING...

But I would have to agree that Vancouver is not representative of Canada either. In fact, no "city" is representative of Canada, we are all so outrageously different that we can't be generalized at all.

JMHO, have a great day.

JustMyHumbleOpinion and InMyHumbleOpinion.....

We are all VERY HUMBLE up here in Canada, IMHO!!! Just ask us! lol

You know, Erin, if Daniel doesn't give you the royal tour, you always know where to find me!! :-)

And those rude people on the plane? They were all American wannabes. The rest of us in Canada are just plain friendly and nice and would most assuredly take someone like yourself under our wing for the entire flight, calm your fears, and give you the greatest time of your life up here in Canada!!! ;-) Especially us Winnipegers! Ok, one of us Winnipegers!!! lol

Hey, I'm still an ex-Winnipeger, doesn't that count?

or wait a minute, how do you still be a used-to-be?

I think I meant to say I lived in the 'Peg previously, in the "PO'" section of River Heights, loved it there, now I live in The Bible Belt of Manitoba, (square peg, round hole, or something like that).
