Indeed an impressive trophy. But that's all.
what do you mean that's all?
I did some research on it
- small ceramic urn used as a joke filled with ashes (to symbolize the ashes of UK's death of cricket supremacy)
- old silver cup (top part) given to the best hockey team, contains the names of all the players on the winning team (rings that look to have writing on them), at this point when a new ring is added an old one is taken off and kept in the Hockey museum)
- played for by a game UK vs Australia
- played for by many teams and a real competition
- falling apart broken trinket kept in a museum in the UK (not even by the winning nation) so a virtual winning
- Large glorious trophy that has travelled the world. (all the people (players/managers/coaches...) get to keep it for a small amount of time during the summer.
- who knows about the Ashes urn except for guys in UK and Australia
- Stanley cup, who does not know about it ? :)
PS did I say that the Stanley cup is looked upon almost as a religious symbol?
