In the last 5 years I have bought 2 new TV's. A Sylvania and a Toshiba.
Both sets have an annoying bright flash when I turn them off. This was never a problem with any of my previous TV's. My eyes are extremely sensitive to light. I often get a headache if I don't remember to close my eyes or look the other way when I go to turn off the TV. Is this some technological flaw that manufacturers are overlooking or what?
Who wants to see a bright flash when they turn off their TV?

Better than seeing a bright flash coming from the back when watching it.

that's not new... tv's we had in the 70's did that bright flash thing.

And, yes, it's fracking irritating!
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

yeah tellys do lots of annoying things nowadays like last longer give better sound and picture and cost much less and are widescreen and are remote and have more inputs and outputs and the remotes can work not just the set..yeah they are really annoying.

I think the manufacturers and retailers are evil and should pay us for having the sets in our houses.

it's a disgrace.

This something like the first TV set I can remember. I know it was a Bush; I know it was big; I know it was extremely unreliable. Having said that, it's only now that I realise how lucky we were (my father being an average working man - take home pay about £5.00 per week) to actually have a set in the 50's.

Also, the point that they "last longer" is open for debate.

yeah right how mant TV repair people do you know.In the mid to late eightys i knew 23 now i know 2 .(I used to work in a service department)
in the earlier valve days it was worse still.
Now also TV's are so cheap its often cheaper to buy a new one than waste money on a repair!

PS this is the intermission forum and i know you didn't mean everything about new tv's annoys you but this is the place i and many others extract the urine,no offence was meant ,you phototropic freak :)
