You poor dear. All those nasty people making fun of you for asking for a code. So let me help you out.

It just so happens that the Panasonic Light Tower Universal remote control has a special feature built into it that automatically receives the control codes from the National Code Service, which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado - coincidently the site of next year's CEDIA convention!

To receive the code automatically, you must enable the remote by opening the back and setting the dip switches according to your area code and phone number. The trick is to convert your phone number into binary, but I'm sure you can do a Google search if you have a problem there.

Once you have the dip switches properly set, you must plug the remote into your home phone system using the optional phone accessory pack (available at any Radio Shack if you didn't order that accessory originally - RS part # NCS-7734) and dial their toll-free number (1-877-382-5968.) That will place you into a menu system. Choose menu item 3 - program codes for your remote control. From there, it will ask you to type into your phone the type of remote you have. For the letter "Q", use the 7 key, and for the letter "Z", use the 9 key. Actually, you won't have to worry about it for your remote, but you didn't say what type of television you have, so if it is a Zenith or a Quasar, you will need that information for the next step.

After you have entered your remote information, press the # key to continue. Then enter the brand of television, using the same method as above. Then enter the # key once again. The system will then repeat back the information you have input, and if everything is right, press the # key again. If there was an error, you must press the * key and re-enter the information.

After that, you will hang up, but DO NOT disconnect the phone from your remote! The National Code Service will then call the phone number you have entered using the dip switches, and download the correct code into your remote. Since the service is very busy, sometimes it will not download until the early morning hours, so do not plan on using your remote that same day.

Once your remote has received the correct code from the National Code Service, the little green light connected to the phone adapter will light up, and you can then disconnect the remote from your phone and start using it.

I hope this has been a help to you, as well as anyone else who is not familiar with the National Code Service. Since they are funded with our tax dollars, we should try to utilize them whenever needed.
I'm just a sheep in wolf's clothing...
