I was just sitting here munching on some wasabi peas, thinking if it was not for my sister that bought some over a year ago and offered them for me to taste I would have not known they ever existed and not have become addicted to this snack. When it comes to food I tend to be of the mind that anything should be tried at least once, so I tend to be adventurous in that way.

Since we are an international group, I thought it wood be fun to have a thread on different foods. Maybe someone will be able to find locally, maybe not, or things to eat if someone is traveling in your are (like a local delicacy that someone should try if they are in the neighbourhood). I will start with one and if people find the topic interesting I will add more of my ideas

Wasabi Peas: these are peas covered in wasabi sauce (a green hot sauce made from horseradish) and then dried, it is a snack food like peanuts or chips. not for people that don't like a bit of burn in their mouth, they are very hot and you will get a burning sensation where it touches your tongue

I keep a can of reduced fat pringles next to the computer. Does that count? :)

For anybody that doesn't live in the Midwest, if you ever travel to the region try Valentino's Pizza. I think you'll like it.

Well, I did send a jar of Marmite to Mr K. I don’t recall ever getting full feedback, if you'll pardon the semi pun. Perhaps it was too much; the reason why he disappeared.

I must confess I rather liked the chili laced RO*TEL tomatoes he sent in return. I did a bit of research and found I can actually get them over here. Trouble is, it's a specialist on-line food store and as such they're horrendously expensive; around £1.50 for a 10oz tin.

diesel: you are not limited to your desk :), tried pringles as for potato chips, I am a Miss Vickie's fan, [Link: fritolay.com], my fav is Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream

DJY, sounds interesting, will have to look into it, from what I guess it is canned tomatoes and hot peppers that you can use to cook with instead of plain canned tomatoes, is that right?

If you ever make it in the area (Southern Quebec, south east Ontario, Northern Vermont) during the sugar season (when the maple tree gives us its sap when the last of the snow is melting away) you need to go for an evening to a sugar shake. These are working maple farms that have restaurants in them, you go there and eat fattening and artery clogging food filled with maple goodness, most have a dancing area and maple toffee on snow
