Thanks Mr. G... you have no idea how much comments like these are appreciated!
1 Remote Central is fast compared to many other
sites
Lotsa processing power, baby - the server I bought for RC has way more processing power than the site currently needs. Keeps it fast, even during peak times (plus, plenty of bandwidth).
2 The site never seems to be down unlike others
It's been down more times than I would like - once early this year due to a faulty switch and for a few hours longer than I would have liked late last year when it was moved - but at that point the server had 400 days uptime with no outages. Believe it or not there's been two hard drive failures, but no one on this side would have noticed. :-)
3 The search feature actually works!
Forum search works surprisingly well (I say "surprisingly" since I programmed it)... not overly thrilled with the site search package I'm using right now, but it's something. I've got plans to make major changes to the forum's behind-the-scenes structure, and one of the holding-up points is how I can keep the search program creating the same type of results it does now. With a database structure it's not so easy.
4 When a thread has multiple posts the first pages
are shown then…….and then the last few pages.
This feature is brilliant! I know it’s a tiny
thing but it makes your site a joy to use
Yes, I get annoyed by generic "last page" links as well. Not sure why this one isn't more popular elsewhere, just seemed logical to me.
5 The fact you can use basic HTML
People asked, so it was added... most sites don't allow it for security reasons. I put a few filters in to stop certain things, but otherwise there's been no problems...

One of the other features I love, is that each
forum has its own time stamp. So it is not reset
when you come to the site, but when you enter
a forum. So if all I have time for is one or two
forums on the site I don't need to visit all of
them or the stamps are wrong.
Again, this just felt logical to me. I'm eventually planning to move this feature to the server side, so your read forums will be maintained no matter what PC you are on.
Well, thanks again guys - and now back to working on this massive review....
