So, they've shown it on MTV 2 and it's called........ XBox 360.

Vertical design like the latest PS2, only with a rounded front and the ability to buy different fronts to customize it for your own taste.

It is an off white color, with a glowing circle around the power button about 1/3 up the box front.

And all of the controllers are wireless. No place to plug them in, or so they said on the show.

They showed a few games. Looks pretty good. The big thing is the "community" that you play in. It makes it much more than just a one-person video game console.

Looks interesting.

I wonder how it will stack up against the PS3?

Eh, I'll just use my PC for games, thanks (although I did break down and buy a PSP - just too cool).

Thanks Bob, but it's all a clear as mud to me, though I surmise it's a tad better the the original.

Be a little while before one finds out. I'm led to believe the PS3 is going to be a little late; like a year perhaps.

I'd go along with using the PC for games; the reason for my buying this nVidia SLI rig. However, I don't play that many games nowadays because, frankly, I find most of them boring (Half Life 2 . . . z z z z z z z z z z z).

One exception though (well actually two, if one wants to be pedantic) has to be Call of Duty and Call Of Duty United Offensive. Truly awesome, particularly the Russian sections. Get that running through the home cinema system and you'll wet your pants - and your neighbours.

heh - one of my favorites - way better than Medal of Honor and certainly any of those expansions.

Well, the PS3 will come out in late '06 so they can improve a little on the XBOX 360. I was lead to believe that the XBOX 360 was only HDTV and notHD/Standard output. Alos lead to belive that there would be no hard drive because of money issues. Also, be mostly microsoft developed and little outside devolpment because of money/licensing issues. but i gues they do have 3 outside company and a an HDD

The only 'games' I play are the 'flight simulator' ones.(I know, I missing out!)

Sounds like the 360 has a 20gb hardrive,( removable so you can take it with you),
1080I output
dvd Burner
IR control(additional charge)
wireless card
And no mention of a MSRP.

We've come along way since 'pong'!!!

1) They have more than 3 outside companies.

2) The output is 720p or higher, and I haven't seen anything about backwards compatibility, which concerns me. The PS2 had PS1 emulator software running for backwards compatability. You would think with all of the processor power that an XBox 1 emulator could be added.

3) I'd rather play games in the living room on my HD TV than sit at the computer any longer than I have to! :-)

4) I just bought an XBox, which is why I hope they have backward compatiblity.

5) I like the new XBox Live they'll have, making it a worldwide video game console, even better than they have now.

6) It seems that a lot of it is upgradeable, which means to me that even if Sony has some time to look at the 360, it won't be out-of-date the monent the PS3 comes out.

7) Microsoft is also leveraging the ability of the 360 to wirelessly connect with XP Multimedia PC's, which might make it more than just a game console, since you can rip your CD's to the hard drive, again which I read is upgradeable, and also play any songs on your PC through your HT system, etc.

More than just a video game console, which is what I also hear the PS3 will be.

Ve shall see, no? Yes, ve shall!

there is also http://www.xbox360.com/

The only thing known about the PS3 is new cell processor and Blu-Ray drive and I think the date is mid-end 06

There should be more real info at the E3 expo. We should know a lot more by the end of the week on both these machines

Odd, I thought it was a ball 'n' a bat.

  • Very low initial outlay

  • Play as long as you like

  • Exercise to keep fit
