The second episode aired on UK tv and it was very funny. The last human in 5 billion years time was a face on a thin flap of skin strecthed over a frame because humans get so obssesed with looking thin.
The doctors assistant from present day said i'll go and talk to michael jackson as she walked over to this last human.Great writing.I cant wait for next week.

What did you think djy?

Again I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I must admit to struggling to come to terms with the new 45 minute format. It also seems to be something of a restart rather than a continuation of previous series/incarnations, which to my mind calls into question the number of regenerations being argued over on another forum.

Anyway, for Anthony, a few pics to whet the appetite:

Those from the US might recognise Christopher Ecclestone as the bad guy from the rather dreadful "Gone In 60 Seconds".

Billie Piper was something of a pop princess (a Britney type thing) before marrying the ginger plank, Chris Evans. They've now since parted.

The new Dalek.

And the previous incarnations:

From the top:

William Hartnell (Richard Hurndall)*
Patrick Troughton
John Pertwee
Tom Baker
Peter Davison
Colin Baker
Sylveter McCoy
Paul McGann

*In the 80's, during Peter Davison's tenure, there was a story call "The Five Doctors". Unfortunately, by this time, William Hartnell had long since passed away so his role was played by Richard Hurdall; who himself passed away a number of years ago.

The others who've gone to the great time lord in the sky are Patrick Troughton and John Pertwee.

I can't believe that's the best they could do with the Dalek. I'm all for keeping things close to our hearts, but they had limitations then that made the Dalek what it was.

The Lost in Space Movie was a great example. They did a great job with "Robot" yet you were reminded of the old Robot.

This new Dalek is the same as the old Dalek only worse now because they have a budget and no excuse!

R2D2 is still a step ahead technology-wise even though he did have balancing issues.

Can't wait to see what the inside of the Tardis looks like.

When will we see it in the U.S?

For a BBC production I think it's excellent, but as a veteran of the very first episode I suppose I would say that. The comments I've read seem to agree; there have been a few that thinks it's complete tosh, but they're very much in the minority.

What one does need to bear in mind is that Doctor Who is (and always was) "family" entertainment; and geared more towards the younger members at that. Don't expect anything too deep; it's more for stimulating the imagination than the intellect.

Its as funny as Tom Baker ,but its not like any Who before there are" in winks" to the past but its quite different.
retro styling in the tardis with a bicycle pump to control it (i'm not kidding)
It is family entertainment and my kids love it.

Saw the first episode yesterday, it was good. Unfortunately I missed the first few minutes (un the phone) and only started watching it when she was in the basement. I like the characters, and think it will be a good series. On the negative side, not too sure about the doctors clothing, it has always been a bit eccentric to match his character.

Well I think Chicago is a little far removed from Ontario for reception. I checked my TIVO for upcoming episodes and I was sorely disappointed.
I'm just going to have to put it on a wish list.

The Brits sure can make some good telly.

I think I will travel to the future now so I can watch it here in the comfort of my home.

Interesting. Thanks for showing me things that look good and that I cannot watch. That's just not right.
