OK, this has to take the cake for the World's Most Expensive DVDs:

5 Asian Disney imports, including Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, Fantasia, Pinocchio and Cinderella. Currently $495, with just under 3 days still left on auction. That's $99 each. I've seen reports that these are retailing in the US for only $38 each...

Actually whoever is selling it FBI should lock him/her down because Disney NEVER release those titles on DVD, i.e. those are pirated DVDs!!! So if you see anyone selling these, might as well call Disney and get some reward from them! :)

I agree! I know the Asian imported Chinese movies are expensive (even if you buy it in Hong Kong), but any title originated from the US, should be 'normal' priced, otherwise, it's probably pirated.

Granted, there may be rare cases where a title is released in a certain region but not another, but come on, the US has the biggest market and it'd be silly not to release there first!

I've also heard of friends having a Japanese 'Titanic' DVD title...but the quality is very poor. So my guess is that it's just a video transfer and its illegal, because we know Mr Cameron definitely hasn't decide to release Titanic on DVD yet!

Actually, Disney (and all the other movie studios)have separate distribution deals all over the world. There are various Disney titles available outside the US - this is is because of the contracts that disney have with their non-US distributors which allow these companies to release whatever they have the license for whenever they want.
Titanic, however has not been released anywhere yet ( scheduled for worldwide release in September) - there is a very poor pirate copy floating around, mastered from Laserdisc I believe.
