Hi, Forgive me for being a total n00b to this forum, but I'm wondering if my old school URC can handle a blu-ray player should i choose to buy one.

Thx

Bluetooth: no, unless you're talking about the Sony PS3.

IR: yes, unless you're talking about the Sony PS3.

RF: no (see Bluetooth).

WiFi: I don't know of any BD player with WiFi, but I assume one could exist. Any profile 2.0 player will have an ethernet connection, which could at minimum be adapted to WiFi.

If you buy a "normal" Blu-ray player, then any decent URC remote you have will operate it fine.

I just installed a Samsung BD-P3600 which came with a WiFi dongle included... not built in, but hey, it worked.

LG BD390 should have WiFi built in.

To address the question though, which was about controlling said player, the WiFi isn't for control, but for streaming content.

(although I am willing to be proven wrong on that)
