its like the DVD's will play when the TV is on VIDEO-1....and I can only WATCH my cable when the TV is on channel 3. I can't record anything when its set up this way. If I had the cable on VIDEO-1, I'd be able to record and it'd work fine. Help!!!!

I'm afraid I'm still completely lost here. Have you hooked up cable TV to the DVD recorder?
