Hi. I just got a brand-new HP Pavilion dv9750us laptop with a Matsushita BD-CMB UJ-120 blu-ray drive. Unfortunately, it's set for Region C when I am trying to play region A blu-ray discs, tried using the quickplay menu controls but it is firmly set on Region C. Can anyone please help me unlock the drive? The unit comes with a full remote to go with the accompanying HP TV tuner, so perhaps I can use that to enter any unlock code. Thanks, take care!

Hi all, just want to share how I solved the problem, such a simple solution it took me hours to think of it. Just use the Windows restore utility to return the laptop settings to an earlier time before you started fiddling with the blu-ray functions and you should be able to get the settings back to the default needed. Thanks and take care!

Note that region changing on modern DVD drives is handled by FIRMWARE, and there is a 5 change limit. After the 5th time you change the region on the drive, it is perminantly locked to that region. I suspect that the same is true of Blu-ray drives.
