Does anyone know if a Wii can play DVDs? Searching Google I get plenty of hits that mention Nintendo adding that capability sometime in late 2007. I just can't find any link that proves it can. I added my Wii to my Logitech Harmony remote and the remote software would alway put the Wii in the choice list when I was setting up a PLAY DVD activity.

So, will a Wii (bought 9/10/2007) play DVDs? If it can, but requires a hack or firmware update please post links to such.

Thanks!

Thanks, J.Todd. Of course I'd already found those dated links. Engadget's are 2006 ponderings of the possibility for a DVD option/upgrade/such-and-such to come in 2007. Slashgear refers to a disk-swap hack with a mod chip installed. I guess they really mean "slash gear" there.

Looks like I'm just gonna have to use one of the 20 assorted DVD players I have in my house to watch DVDs. Drat! ;-)

In retrospect, I don't even know why I asked the question. Sorry.

This little piggy went Wii Wii Wii Wii all the way home. ;-)
