This forum has been so dead, lately, I began today determined to ask a new question.

I've got 4 Pcs that have DVD playing ability. Two are notebooks. One PC has Three DVD drives in it (one CD burner/DVD ROM, one DVD/CD burner, and one HD-DVD ROM)
I've got 3 assorted portable DVD players, from very small screen to a 10.8" screen.
I just got a Polaroid GPS on clearance at Target that also plays DVDs.
In my living room there is a DVD recorder/player, and an HD-DVD deck.
In the Master bedroom there is another DVD deck.
In the guest bedroom there is another DVD deck.
In the family room there are two DVD decks, one used as a music server for the deck.
In boxes somewhere, I've got two more taken out-of-service for some agravating flaw they had. One only plays home-made DVDs any more, and the other had a bad HDMI flaw but otherwise works fine.

So I've got 18 things that will play DVDs. OMG!

How many devices do YOU own that will play DVds?

Hmm. Counting up all the computer DVD devices and standalone players... I top out at 13.

Edit: ooh, the car plays DVDs too... so 14!

Another way to count is to divide the total number of devices by the number of family members. It's just me and my cute wife, so 18/2=9 per person. Danel wins if he's the only one in his house.

Lets see........1 PC with 2 drives, 1 laptop, Xbox, 2 DVD recorders, 4 players, 1 portable, so I come in with a thread low so far of 10. Got some catching up to do....maybe with a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD or maybe a PS3 or 360......

Not a bad count, Dirk, if you're the only one using them. I can honestly state that my wife is the reason we own at least 1/3 of the players we have.

Impressive counts so far. I think about all the players I have and realize that only three get regular use. Yea, we take a portable with us on trips, but don't do trips very often. I will watch a DVD on my PC every once-in-a-while, but not if the wife wants to watch too. I've watched a total of .1 percent of a DVD on the GPS unit, mainly to prove that it worked. One DVD for the portable with a 5" screen. Any deck that got demoted from the living room obviously had more use before it was moved.

Some day I'll have a yard sale, and the whole yard is gonna be filled with electronics I don't use anymore.

Tell me about it. The other day I had a clear out and found amongst other things 4 PDAs, 5 mobile phones, and 12 calculators. Not one is used and the numbers don't include the ones I do use! And guess what? ...I put them all back - just in case! How sad is that?

You might win, Damik. I can count only 3 PDAs, 4 cell phones, and maybe 6 calcs. There are now 3 old portable phone collecting dust. I've still got every printer I ever owned (and replaced with new when they stopped working) lining a shelf in the basement. My plan for those is to some day take them apart, save all the cool parts (gears, etc.,) and throw the plastic shells away. Someday.

LOL!!! that would account for 1/2 the junk in my garage! most of it i dont even remember where it came from in the 1st place but who knows, maybe a bag of bed springs will come in handy one day - i think i've seen a few too many episodes of the A-Team as a kid. still waiting for the big invasion where i'll have to build my own tank out of old tin cans, dvd players, calculators, and bed springs.

i really thought my dvd player collection was silly, but i see now i'm not near as bad as some of you!

2 desktops
laptop
3 xbox 360's (2 sons and myself)
hd-dvd add on for 360
elite dvd upscaler sacd player
4 standalone players around the house
and 1 in the Van

=13. jeez thats more than i thought at the beginning of this post! and that doesnt include the 3 old xboxes, and 4 standalones in my garage!

oh well at least theres 6 people in my house so its just over 2 per person.
