1. PS3 can recieve bluetooth out of the box, it's how the standard controllers work, you mean an IR dongle
2. Unfortunately no, it's not that simple, you're gonna need the Nyko Blu-wave USB dongle that comes with it

Although this remote works reasonably well, my PS3 keeps assigning the USB dongle as controller 1. i.e., when you start up the system with an actual controller, it defaults to controller 2. Swaping USB ports has no effect. Although this may not sound like a big deal, it is really annoying to reset your controller every time you start the system. If I paid an installer big bucks to put this on my fancy control system, I would feel ripped off. Yet another partial solution for PS3 control.

Has anyone tried a Nyko remote since updating their PS3 firmware to 2.00 or 2.01? I was successfully using an adaptor and an old PS2 IR receiver prior to that 2.00 update - but now it doesn't work any more (something in the firmware update has upset the adaptor).

Cheers,
Scott

Hi, anyone know where I can get one of these in the UK? It sounds perfect. I don't want to use the remote but I'll learn the IR codes and stuff those into my Pronto... I presume that will work? I then just leave the IR USB receiver in the PS3 and I can point my pronto at it?

Make sense?

Yes, the process you've just described works fine, even in the UK.

Unfortunately i don't know where we get them from...i'm just the dogsbody programmer...i do all the hard work but don't get the responsibility of buying.

For the Logitech guys, the remote commands are already pre-programmed under "Game Console with a DVD player" under Nyko. Everything works fine. This is a clean solution. I don't see what the big deal is about powering on since I have to go to the PS3 to insert a disc anyway and put it away after a movie.

As for the unit assigning itself remote #1, you should be able to re-assign the PS3 remote by holding down the "PS" button.

hi patrick

you shouldn't have any problems learning onto a pronto, i've learnt onto prontos and other universal remotes without any problems. some things to check:

-you've got the dongle in the ps3 usb slot (is it flashing?)
-you're pointing directly at the PS3
-when you learn you're pointing at the right point of the remote
-when learning, try different distances, and long and short presses

if you're looking for help, try telling us every step you're gone through and exactly where the problems occur.

I got this a few months back and it works great with my Russound IR repeater system. I too was frustrated when I found out that Sony went with Bluetooth. This was a cheap fix for $19! My Harmony remote easily learned all of the commands. The only think left for me to do is learn the "PS" button.
Do or do not, there is no try!

Hi mattweb

I never had any problems with remote-known brand (Sony, JVC, Toshiba ...)

But by researching AVS, I saw that I was not alone.

The dongle does not blink even with the original remote that works perfectly well understood.
I tried pointing in different ways, nothing has changed.
Upon learning, following your advice, I tried different distances. Unfortunately nothing changes.

All stages of learning operate on the pronto, but it does not work with the PS3. Unfortunately.

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards
