Any suggestions as to a high quality cd/dvd megachanger? I can't use the Sony 400 cd megachanger, as it is too deep(21+ inches) for my setup. I could get by with a 50 to 200 cd/dvd unit. Also, are megachangers a good idea, and are they reliable? Finally, if I give up on the megachanger, is there a high quality 5 disc cd/dvd player someone can recommend? Or is it better to have a separate dvd player and a separate cd player? I will be using a Denon AVR receiver, and I want to maintain high quality audio and video. Will appreciate any and all thoughts or recommendations.

Maybe a cd player with a built in hard disc would do the trick.
You could store over a 100 cd's on a 80GB hard disc drive without any compression!

I own both Pioneer DV-F7272s and Sony DVP-860 and 895. Both of the former units are much shallower than the 985. I have only used them for DVDs, so I can't say anything about CD playback quality. The 727s are better in terms of physical reliability and user interface, the 860 in terms of picture quality. I would not say that either of them are totally reliable, but both can be fixed at home without electronics expertise, and are wonderful when working! The SACD of the 985 is absolutely great BTW...

cgroth I like your attitude about fixing them at home with minimal tech knowledge...... LOL. When I bought my first Sony 985 durring a supper sale the sales guy pushed hard for the three year ext warrenty. He quoted me the price and I stepped back in shock. Recovering I told him to stand hard I would be right back and ran and grabbed a second similair unit. Happily he asked "should I put the extended warrenties on both units sir?" "No I replied this [the second boxed unit ] IS the extended warrenty." Now with the 985 also in the rack I would say to Buckey, "Man build a bigger mousetrap so the player can fit if at all possible." The units are great! I use them every day with massive fast forwarding etc. And the new zoom and hdmi on the 985 rocks!.....
