I have a US Pioneer DVR-220 and it works ok with a US to UK power converter, however I can not get the tuner to work, I assume the signals are different??? and if they are is there any way around this?? I was thinking of a PAl to NTSC converter but I don't know if that would help.

That would probably work. I imagine the recorder is only made to record NTSC signals. If you could change it before then, it should work. Might be just as easy to buy a UK model, though.
