I have no idea if this is where I should be posting, but I just received some discreet IR codes for a new Toshiba TV, and I'm not sure how to even use them. The POWER ON code I received was: 40 BF 7E 81 A couple codes I received are: POWER ON - 40 BF 7E 81 POWER OFF - 40 BF 7F 80 But I'm not sure how to learn them into a Pronto. If you have any tips, please let me know, as I would search for a solution, but I don't know what the short hex would be called. Thank you, Jeff

Which model Pronto? For most models you only need to prefix those codes with "900A 006D 0000 0001" and remove the two excess blanks, yielding POWER ON - 900A 006D 0000 0001 40BF 7E81 POWER OFF - 900A 006D 0000 0001 40BF 7F80

I actually have an AMX System and I have used a Pronto to get IR files in the Hex Code format, so that I can cut and paste them into an AMX system. I tried the ones you specified, but they didn't seem to work. Is there anything else you can think of that I could use in order to get these short codes into a working long form that will work with AMX / Pronto? Also, if there's a way to describe the 'short codes', I don't mind doing the research myself, but I really don't understand much about the whole IR systems. Thank you for your response. Jeff

Any ideas on this? This is the last thing I need to know for the job I'm working on currently, and I guess I just don't get it completely. Thank you for any ideas, Jeff

Mainly I happen to know that Toshiba uses NEC1 protocol. There were some more subtle hints, so I would have guessed right even if you hadn't said Toshiba, but that made it easy. I also know that most models of Toshiba TV don't have discrete On or Off commands. But newer ones might, so I assumed the info you put in the top post of this thread was correct and aplies to the model you have.

I am certain that the device number 64 (40 hex is correct). I looked here: [Link: remotecentral.com] and found the same two signals (NEC1 device 64, commands 126 and 127) in Pronto Hex, but at a higher modulation frequency. I am nearly certain that the modulation frequency I used is correct. I am pretty sure that the TV doesn't really care about the modulation frequency, so that using a wrong frequency (such as I think that page I linked does) wouldn't stop the command from working. I believe that all Toshiba TV models that have discrete On/Off commands have the same discrete On/Off commands. So the only plausible explanations I have for it not working are: 1) Your source of information was for a different model Toshiba TV 2) You tested it incorrectly

My info came right from Toshiba for the exact model I'm working with. It's a 72MX195 or 72HM95 - Both have discreets according to Toshiba, plus they have the same remote control unit. I sent you an email with some information - let me know what you think. Jeff

I emailed back a file of Pronto Hex for every possible function number. The function numbers are in column D of the XLS that you emailed to me. Some Toshiba TV's have supported very destructive undocumented commands, so I do not think it is safe to try all 256 commands in the file I emailed. I think you should only try commands that you find in that XLS file (by matching the column D value of the XLS file to the "Function" number in the file I sent). You should try a few ordinary commands, such as the digits (Functions 00 to 09) or the power toggle (12) because those are the same on every model, so they should work even if Toshiba is wrong about the model number. If those ordinary commands DON'T work, then you must be doing something wrong in the process of copying the Pronto Hex into your AMX system and/or testing it.

I replied to the from address in your email, and that is at gmail.com and I didn't get any bounce and it was sent 28 minutes before your above post saying you didn't have it. I think any delay must be on the gmail side. My comcast email acct sometimes delays incomming email for hours, but I've never seen any evidence of any delay of outgoing email.
