I don't know about the SLVD300 but.....SONY has dropped discrete on and offs (and other discrete commands) in some product i.e. CDPCX455 CD Mega Changer......... hope someone can get through to their marketing and engineering to let them know what a step backwards this is for Sony and custom installers.

I tried all 128 functions (IRGen (Thanks Barry!!)) for the SLVD300P remote, no discrete on or off. If anyone else has any ideas please post here.

Have you tried play and then power for off and just "play" for power on?

The SLVD300 is an Ultra TOAD.... Play doesnt even turn it on.

However, the Last few CDP-CX455's I installed responded just fine to Discrete power commands.

There was a recet post that EJECT|EJECT would turn it on and the second eject command would keep the tray from opening. I would guess that you may need to tweak the timing in the macro between "ejects" depending on remote.

If that works then EJECT|EJECT|Power_Toggle would be off.

The EJECT will only switch the unit on if it was powered off while in DVD mode. If in VCR mode (and no tape), the EJECT does nothing :(

I selected this unit partly because I figured as a Sony, it would support discrete codes! I just might return the darn thing. Geeeeeeez.

At this point I would TAKE the Eject-Eject sequence. But I can not make that work unless the unit was switched off in DVD mode. Can anyone confirm this?

Here is the (painful) macro sequence that I've been using for a year or more as a Discrete-On for a Sony SLV-D500P. It actually exploits the items listed above, and seems to work quite well. The critical thing to do is to first get the darn device into DVD mode, and then exploit the eject (which has the Discrete ON side effect). Here is how it can be done:

Try to select DVD input (we might be ignored because power might be off)
Press power (which might leave unit on or off)
Try to select DVD as input again (either this or previous request will be honored, so now we're in DVD mode)
Do an eject (which will have to be a DVD eject, and hence will power up unit)
Press power (which will power down unit, and retract DVD carriage) (whew)

"Power" is the power toggle EFC = 79
"Select DVD" is the discrete select EFC = 128
"Eject" has EFC = 81

I found the trailing "power" to be more dependable than a second Eject (the suggestion earlier in the thread). In addition, in the macro form, the tray never really has time to even come out of the player!! The above macro works fine on my system using a 15-2116 remote, with no delays between the macro-ized key presses. YMMV.

To get a Discrete ON, I just follow the entire mess (above) with yet another power toggle (actually... I reference the macro, and then append the power toggle).

The macros are a bit time consuming.... but they work ;-)

Hope it helps,

Jim

Jim,

Your method works on my Sony SLV D300P. I programmed it into my MX-700.
Thanks.

John
