As the subject states I need the discretes for this unit. I have a TC1000 but I am confident that I can convert them from any format (ccf or hex).

I've seen a few requests recently for discretes for Samsung DVD's. I haven't seen any positive reponses.

I've decoded CML and CCF data for a few Samsung DVD's and they use the same protocol and device number as typical Samsung VCR's. (As labeled by my new decoder, "(NECx2):5.5" ).

You could try all 256 commands with that protocol and see if you can find the discretes yourself. If you like, I can make a .IRP file for my MakeHex program or for Barry Gordon's GenIrdb program to generate the 256 signals (It's just a tiny change from the NEC2 .irp file). (I don't have a Pronto myself and don't know the mechanics of getting the 256 signals into the Pronto to test by IrPanels or some other method less tedious than pasting 256 times into ProntEdit).

You also might want to consider whether it's safe or whether there is risk of giving the DVD a command you can't undo. I don't know enough about DVD's to offer an opinion.

Schu,

I don't believe that anyone has ever found a discrete code for any Samsung DVD (or VCR or TV/Display...). The only discrete commands for any Samsung gear that I have ever heard of are discrete power commands for the SIRT-160 DSS STB for DirecTV.

I have suggested the work around of the Play command from Off that turns many DVD's/ CD's and VCR's On. (On=Play/Stop and Off=Play/Power Toggle).

One reply here reported even that doesn't work but the tray open command does.

If you don't know how to do it, post a hex command here for the power toggle, I can decode it and either generate all 256 possible commands or tell you how to do so with John Fine's MakeHex. Unfortunately, I am pessimistic that you will find one.

Thanks guys. I am not sure exactly what it is I am looking for. There is one button on my client's remote that he uses quite frequently. Its an input button to change input on the DVD/VCR unit. When we used the learning feature on the TC1000 it did learn but did not do anything when pressed. I am not sure if the other Samsung DVD and VCR have this same button.

John Fine - if you could send me the .irp maybe I could play around with it a bit. That would be great. [email protected]

I'll post the irp here in case I make a mistake and Jon spots it. I email a copy also:

Device=5
Function=0..255
Protocol=NECx2
Frequency=38000
Time Base=564
One=1,-3
Zero=1,-1
Prefix=8,-8
Suffix=1,-78
Form=;*,D:8,D:8,F:8,~F:8,_

Do you have a CCF file or pronto hex for that learned key that didn't work? If it is a bad learn but almost good, Jon or I could tell what function it almost is and how to make a clean one.
