Thanks.

I've read here that few DVD players have discrete codes. I have the same DVD player and learned the functions into my MX-500. I haven't tried this yet but for macros the advise here was: "a discrete "On" code could be simulated by using "play" [then a delay] and then "stop". A discrete "Off" code could be simulated bt "play", pause, "stop" and then toggle "power".

I'll try that this weekend - I'm sure it will work in a macro, but whether that's what you wanted....

Good Luck!

If it does respond it should be these:

Device Code: 103 Function: 66-On

0000 007F 0000 0011 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 0370

Device Code: 103 Function: 74-Off

0000 007F 0000 0011 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 001D 000B 0044 000B 001D 000B 0370

Jeff, I tried the macros and they worked just fine!
Thanks a lot.

Jon, I'm kind of new at programming the discretes into my Proto RU890. I don't see where to enter the Device Code or the Function Code. Aren't the Device and Function codes part of the HEX bit stream anyway or do I need to find out how to added separately from the codes you listed?
I tried to "cut & paste" these codes and it didn't work, but again I did nothing with the Device and Function codes (130,66,74).
Thanks for your help.

Larry,

Just paste in the hex alone, from 0000 ... 0370 in Pronto edit. The header just gives the device and function number and can't be used directly by the Pronto.

JD,
What do you mean by "Play/Off"?
My DD-8030 remote doesn't have an "off"?
It only has a toggle "Power" which is why we're in this mess anyway!
Thanks,

Larry

On is Play|Stop, Off is Play|power toggle. You may need to experiment with a slight delay in your macro.

Before you go to the effort, make sure that when the DVD is off that the Play command will turn it on.
