Hello Everyone,
I have a Carver Integrated Amp, model CM-1090. I no longer have the remote for this amp. I would like assistance locating any remote that might be "Pre-Coded" for Carver, or any insights on a remote that could "learn" my amp.
thanks
Gordon

Gordon,

The best and least expensive solutuion solution will be one of the One For All remotes sold by Radio Shack, RS-15-2104, Setup Code Audio_0008. Thes are currently being discontinued and are ~$20.

The 2104 also has a JP1 plug in the battery compartment that can be interfaced with a PC and allows a wide variety of upgrades and programming. It also can enable just about any command to be placed on any button on the remote. So with the cable and freeware tools, you can control just about any piece of electronic equipment that uses IR.

Depending on your electronic skills, the cable is ~$1 to $20. The latter being the cost of a pre-made cable.

Jon,
Thank you for your recomendation. I did pick up the , RS-15-2104 remote. I used that suggested code for my Carver AMP and it works! There are still some commands that I am working out, but it looks promising. Which leads me to my next question. I also bought at the same time- a Sony single CD deck. Model number CDP-361. I cannot seem to get this remote (RS-15-2104) to Power On this Cd player. Again I do not have the original remote on this cd deck either.

Any insights on this Deck? Would I need a different remote?

Thanks Again,
Gordon

Gordon,

Are you sure it has an IR command for power? Many CD's have a switch that is strictly mechanical. You could leave it on and hopefully the Carver has a switched receptacle on the back that could control it.

I found a file for Pronto commands for that exact Sony model but no power command in that file, which is why I asked. CD_0000 is the setup code in the 2104 (the main Sony CD code).

Also some CD's and VCR's have more than one command set. See if there is a switch to go between CD1, CD2 and CD3. CD_0000 is CD1. It is possible that this is done through the setup routine. See if you can find a manual on the web. Sony probably has one on their website.

Finally, turn it on manually and see if the other commands (play, stop, etc.) work. Sony uses the same commands across all devices so the power toggle command (decimal 21) in CD_0000 will work if it will respond to power commands.

If the other commands work and it doesn't respond to the power command, then it probably doesn't respond. If no commands work it is defective or on hte qwrong CD setting.
