Can someone tell me how these discrete codes work. I was setting up a macro that the power button on my remote could turn on my tv and my tuner, but only if its off. I was told that discrete codes could do this, but I dont understand how.

I think this will give you a rundown:

It is always useful to tell us what remote you are trying to program, what devices that you are trying to control, and if you are using a universal remote what built-in setup codes work.

I am using RS 15-2104. The two devices in question are the Panasonic-53WX42 and a sony receiver str-d511.
