Using an MX-500 and training it with a RS 15-2103. When I use macros to turn on the receiver the input (DTS/Auto/Analog) switches around - basically toggling from whatever the last setting was.

I have to get up and walk across the room and switch back from DTS to Auto or Analog if the source isn't DTS. Actually, I cannot even find a button on the original remote that switches between these settings. The Amplifier code 0176 works for this receiver - I'm using the 248-On and 246-Off discretes with success. Ideally I could find the codes for DTS, Analog and Auto, but would settle for a code that lets me toggle the DD/DTS/Auto using the remote. I have the receiver set to leave inputs on the "LAST", but I've also tried setting it to "AUTO" with no joy.

Yamaha posts their IR commands but you will have to do some translation. There is no command set for thte RX-V520 but here is for the -V420 and -V530 and most Yamaha commands are the same.

[Link: yamaha.com]

Once you select the model number you will see a pdf listing. As an example for the -V530 model, the custom code 7A (that is decimal 122 and is the Audio_0176 setup code). So any command here (or any other model with custom code 7A) will work with that setup code,*if* your particular model recognizes that specific command.

Then look at the "data code" column. That is the command in hex that known as OBC when converted to decimal. My first guess for the command that you want is Dolby Digital/DTS Toggle = 90 hex.

To convert hex to decimal, pen in any Windows machine, Start|Programs|Accessories|Calculator then select View|Scientific hit the radio button for Hex, enter 90 then hit the radio button for Dec which is 144 that is the OBC.

Then go to [Link: hifi-remote.com]

a cross reference between OBC and EFC for the NEC protocol which is what Yamaha uses.

The first number is OBC the number to the right in bold is EFC=Advanced codes=231.

So with that methodology you can go through the Yamaha receiver commands for the various receiver models and try any commands that look promising from any with the 7A custom code.

those Yamaha receivers?????

once you select an input(it will be on auto),if you press it again (it will go on Dts or whatever)

so if you were allready on Dvd and you pressed again...(you came off auto)

the easiest way is that add another(unused) input before the one you want
ex;
yamaha input tape
delay 0.2
yamaha input dvd

so it will always be on auto

Solved - Thanks Stephane.

During the macro sequence, after the Receiver is turned on I select the unused VCR input, then the DVD input. This keeps it from toggling from DVD Auto (which is where I left it) to DVD DTS.

It should be noted that not all yamaha receivers do behave this way.

I have the RX-596. It's behavior is similar, but not quite the same. Using Stephane's example: If I were already on DVD/Auto (and had been for a while) and I pressed DVD again, it stays on Auto.

However, If I select the DVD input, then select it again within about 1 second, it will switch from auto to DTS (or whatever). If I wait longer than a second to select it again, there would be no change.

The Rx-V596 (I forgot the V) is a A/V Amplifier and is very similar to the 520.
