Looong time no post in here.

I have bought a Samsung 85in Q60A series, model QE85Q60AAUXXC.

Unfortunately, Samsung removed the RS232 control possibility from its recent TVs.

I was controlling my UE55HU7000 that way, using my Pronto system and it was great, as it allowed discrete switching between its 4 HDMI inputs.

The new TV does not have that and now I fear it doesn't even have IR. I honestly can't tell looking at all details of the faceplate whether is there an IR sensor or not and can't find any info on the internet of whether or not it has one. The only thing I want to do with IR is discrete ON/OFF, nothing else, as I don't use any of the "Smart" features and have an AppleTV.

So the question is, does this TV even have the possibility of receiving IR commands?

I don't want to foolishly waste my time in front of it throwing IR signals trying to find out to which it responds if it isn't even listing at all.

Yes it does. I don't know where the IR sensor is on that model but it does have it.

We have not reached a point where the manufactures are removing the IR sensor on 'any' TVs yet. But I fear it is coming one day, when one of the bean counters are like "Hey we are using a bluetooth remote, lets save a few pennies and remove that IR sensor".

That's great news but in fact I can't get it to take any commands. Much to my surprise, I even managed to learn IR codes for every single button of the remote, which is a BN59-013578, i.e., the solar powered model.

Then I tested those same learned codes with my TSU9600 and the TV does not respond to any.

Does the IR receiver need to be enabled on the TV? If so, how is that done, is there a service menu I should access?

Ok, disregard, it is working fine, i.e., it responds to the learned IR commands.

Now, next, does anybody know of discrete ON/OFF codes for this? The remote only has Power Toggle which is:

0000 006D 0000 0022 00AB 00AC 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 06DE

IR codes for TVs usually do not change much over time. The code may do a different input than what was originally listed 10 years ago. And new codes are sometimes added. But things like Power on & off usually stay the same.

That being said, there are a couple of power codes that were different over the years. But not a whole lot to search thru.

Hex codes for Pronto can be found in the files section of this forum board:
[Link: files.remotecentral.com]

There are many Samsung files that have all the known IR codes. Missing are just the more modern codes for the smart functions.

Thx, and yes, the standard IR codes for Samsung TVs work fine, including discrete ON/OFF and input switching, which all I wanted.

Hey guys,

I own a Samsung UE65JU6450, which I believe we bought around 2015.

I tried all the Power On / Off codes found at [Link: files.remotecentral.com] but none of them work. :(

Is there any other place to look? I couldn't find any. Would appreciate a point in the right direction.

@laalves Could you maybe post the codes you are using for your TV?
