I'm fooling around with IR and an Arduino. Xfinity implemented a feature on their DVR called Smart Resume and it's the best thing they've ever done. It allows you to press the Fast Forward button and skip commercials intelligently (no need to hit play at the end of the commercial block). You can use up to the 4X FF speed so a break is over in about 10 seconds. Not all shows support this but many do.

I dug out my old Samsung S5 and made a macro in Galaxy Universal Remote that does the equivalent of pressing the FF four times. Works beautifully. Then I thought, why not build a single purpose device for that function since I don't really use that phone anymore. My concept involves an IR emitter and an Arduino mini attached to the back of my laptop screen. A single press of a button attached to my keyboard would give me the power to skip commercials without picking up a device.

After hours of googling and reading this site, I found this code for the FF button on [Link: irdb.tk]

Protocol RCA-38, device 14, subdevice -1, OBC 28

0000 006B 0000 001A 008E 008E 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0024 0012 0047 0012 0047 0012 011D

Can someone tell me what this is in "0xFEA857, 32" format that my Arduino can output?

Thanks in advance.

Simple answer: there is none. IRremote implements a few protocols, RCA is not one of them. You have to use the raw format instead.

Using IrScrutinizer you can generate Arduino code automatically.

Please also check out my library Infrared4Audiono ("Infrared" in the Arduino library manager) as an alternative to IRremote. (It still does not implement RCA though.)

Thanks for responding, Barf.

So if I understand you, no protocol is necessary because the raw format handles that function. Lucky me, I found another subject about which there is much to learn.
