For several years I have used the Dish DVR's and upgraded as new DVR's were released. Through the upgrades I have accumulated the IR codes to operate the receiver. Now that I have upgraded to the Hopper 3 I have one button which no longer works, the "search" button. It appears that dish may have changed the IR code to launch the search window.

In my searches I found references to the IR code that I should be able to paste into the universal browser hex editor that is provided with the MX-850 editor. The code is:
0000 0048 0001 0011 0018 0162 0018 005E 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 005E 0018 005E 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 0162

When I add this code and drag it to the button, the button reflects that the code has been learned however it doesn't work with my Hopper. All of the other codes that I have programmed into the remote (accumulated over time) such as the Red, Yellow, Green, Discrete pwr on, etc. buttons work. Any ideas what my problem may be?

I have seen references that the above code only works if the remote is programmed as address 1 but I don't know how to tell what address my MX-850 is using nor how to tell the Hopper that I am using address 1 verses address 2.
Again, any suggestions?

Does anyone have an MXF with the hopper codes that includes the search button?

According to this thread, Hopper 3 uses function 45 for Search.

Dish Network Device: 0, Subdevice (Unit/Address): 0,  Function: 45

Thank you for the response. I tried the code you provided but it didn't work.

Well,
Both kwindrem and the JP1 community think it will work for Search with the Hopper 3.  You could try the non-repeating version in the other thread, which kwindrem found by trial and error,  and if that doesn't work for you, reconsider whether you are really loading the Pronto Hex correctly.

Try this. It's from a VIP722. I recently did my first work ever on a Dish Network system and had trouble assembling all the right codes for the Hopper 3 and the Joeys. Oddly, it turned out that the codes that worked for the Hopper also worked for the Joey.

I think this is the SEARCH command that worked for me. Since you can't just open an MX850 file and see the Hex that you used, I'm not sure. Please drop me a note if this doesn't work and I'll do the work needed to get the code out of the remote.

0000 0048 0001 0011 0017 0162 0017 0060 0017 00A3 0017 0060 0017 0060 0017 00A3 0017 0060 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 00A3 0017 0162

Oh, yeah, about putting the Hopper 3 on codeset 1: I saw this advice in several places, too. I called Dish tech assistance and found a person who was very knowledgeable about the system. She insisted that there is no such thing. I managed to pester her about it long enough for her to kick the call upstairs where a tech explained that the codeset thing did apply with the VIP systems, but the Hoppers and Joeys don't have that capability or headache. That's the moment when I tried the Hopper commands on the Joey and found they worked.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
