Hi. We will be redoing our school building. We have cat cable in every classroom. We want to transfer hdmi video signals to the classrooms using our existing cat cable. We have decided to invest in an hdmi over ip solution. There are several brands on the market such as Atlona Omnistream, Gefen, Hall Research, Key digital, ZeeVee, etc.

Is anyone familiar with these brands and technologies? I want to understand the differences and prices between them. Any help will be much appreciated.
Upd: After research i found a some possibilities here [Link: bzbexpress.com]
I know this brand, but i don't know these devices.

Why don't you hire a professional to come in and look at what you have and give you some recommendations.

Just Add Power.. The other devices you have listed are just baluns (devices that transmit HDMI signals over cat5/6 wiring, not true HDMI over IP) and you will still need a switcher and so on.. Just Add Power is actually an HDMI over IP device that does it's own switching internally.

DM-TXRX-100-STR
I have used it yet, but something else for you to research.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

We're just starting to dabble in this area, but I've heard very good things about JAP and SVSi. I cringe whenever I hear "run over our existing" as while converged networking sounds great in marketing, in reality most of these products need or run best over dedicated networks, i.e. if you have one CAT run to each classroom, which isn't unusual, that network may get bogged down heavily for regular data applications. If it is just for morning announcements or similar bursts here and there, by all means, but for all day every day usage, you might not be saving as much as you think.

Crestron has an interesting solution in that they are kind of treading lightly with a hybrid approach. DM for local runs and high quality runs, and streaming for the occasional use, overflow, etc. that can be mixed in the same receivers, chassis, etc. , but not over the same cabling.

Definitely get an experienced professional involved, and I'd repost this in a different forum to get better responses. This doesn't really have anything to do with discrete IR codes.
