Hi all,

owning an "Audiovolver II" by the german company "Audiodata" I'm in trouble controlling this device with my Pronto TSU9400.

Learning the Commands from the original remote doesn't turn out completely successful, a couple of commands do work, others don't.

I asked the manufacturer for RC5 Codes and this (following in bold letters) is what I received:

Starting Code in HEX always is: 02 04

Codes for the buttons:

Code Funktion
41      Digital1
42      Digital2
43      Digital3
44      Analog
45      Demo5
46      Demo6
47      Demo7
48      Demo8
49
40
59      Volume 0 dB
5a      Power
4a      Vol +
4b      Vol -
4d
4c
4e      Volume -30 dB
51      Video
52      Bypass
53      Tube
54      Mute
55      Channel Check
56      Pegel
57      Messung
58      Alt

Frankly said the above isn't helpful for me. I tried to use this data e.g. in the funktion within ProntoEdit as well as trying to get a result with the "RC5 to Hex Conversion Tool" from Dan Gray), but didn't succeed.

By now I have no idea what to else but to ask for your kind help...

So, anyone here who's able to convert the above given data into HEX code that works on my Pronto TSU9400? Would be SOOOOOO great!

Thanks in advance for supporting me dummy,
Marcel

The RC5 code consists of 7 bits function code, 5 bits of "system code" (often called device code), and one bit of toggle. The meaning of the numbers in the table is (probably) unambiguous, but how the statement "Starting Code in HEX always is: 02 04" is to be interpreted is not exactly clear.

IrScrutinizer is far superior to the tool you mention.

Using IrScrutinizer, I generated all the possible "Power" (5A), enclosed. See if any of those works. There is also the "short form Pronto hex" (starting with 5000); most Prontos accept those. Try either the long (starting with 0000) or the short form.

Hi Barf,

thanks alot for your support as well as for the given codes. I just testet a random number of those, but without any success. The Audiovolver does not respond on those codes at all :-(

Kind regards from germany,
Marcel

Sorry, you appear to have misunderstood. The information given in the posting is incomplete; however, there are only 32 alternatives to try. So, ONE of those given should be the power command. You find out which.

Ooops, in fact I did get you wrong. Sorry, english is not my mothertongue and I do lack of training.

I'll try with the given codes on the weekend and will give you feedback then.

So long kind regards,
Marcel

Hi Barf,
so, here we go:
I tested all the alternatives and one of those worked: rc5_D4F90 (long form).

Did I get you right that, knowing wich alternative does work, you by now can generate the rest of the Hex-codes for the commands I posted above? That would be GREAT!!

Kind regards,
Marcel

GREAT!!! Wow, finally a solution... can't believe it. Vielen Dank nach München!!! ;-)

As I just figured out there is one thing left: The codes for the functions "video", "bypass" and "ALT" do work, but only "one way".

In other words: When pressing the button the function is activated, but when pressing the button again the function does not deactivate. On the original remote control it's just like expected. First pressing activates the function yet another pressing deactivatesthe function.

Any idea what needs to be done in order to make the Pronto behave like to original remote?

Kind regards and again my warmest thanks!
Marcel

Nice that we got this far.

The problem you describe is almost certainly caused by not implementing the toggle code properly: This is a bit in the signal, T, that flips ("toggles") between 0 and 1. That way it is easier to distinguish between "long", repeated presses and multiple presses. Some devices check it, some ignore it, some forgive after a timeout period.

The codes I generated all have toggle T = 0.

There are two ways to address this: either let the remote take care of the toggling, or keep every signal in two versions, with T = 0 and T = 1. Needless to say, the first solution is preferable. A Pronto "should" accept the "short form", 5000 0073 0000 0001 0004 0033 for "Video". Please try this again.

To try with, here are both versions of "Video":

rc5_D4F51T0: rc5 Device: 4 Function: 51 T=0
0000 0073 0000 000B 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0CA8

rc5_D4F51T1: rc5 Device: 4 Function: 51 T=1
0000 0073 0000 000B 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0CA8

And by all means, install IrScrutinizer yourself...

Hi there,

thanks again, though I had not the opportunity to test the new generated codes so far and will not have before next weekend.

The simple reason I do not dare to have a tryout myself with IrScrutinizer is that

a) I'm no technican. The whole materia appears to be too complicated for me.

b) combined with a) the warning on your homepage: "Sending undocumented IR commands to your equipment may damage or even destroy it. By using this program, you agree to take the responsibility for possible damages yourself, and not to hold the author responsible."

YOU know what you do using IrScrutinizer. I don't.

So again many many thanks for your support so far. Just in case the latest codes you posted do the solution I'd be grateful in case you'd complete the solution by also generate the two missing commands ("ALT" as well as "bypass").

Kind regards,
Marcel

Hi again,

so, I had the opportunity to test the latest codes you kindly generated.

In fact, the Pronto accepts the "short form" of the code, but the problem remains.

The T1 and T0 codes do not work at all. The Audiovolver does not react on these codes.

Kind regards,
Marcel
