Hi Everyone.

I would like to convert some raw code into UEI code so that I can use IR.exe or remotemaster to program the remote.

I want to convert raw code in this format:
+8998 -4500 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -40514 +8998 -2250 +560 -96716

to UEI code in this format so that JP1 programs will understand it:
14 22 18 00 D1 83 24 24 55 55 55 55 44 44 44 45
44 45 55 54 44 44 55 51 30 82 30

Is there a program that can do this easily?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Yes. IrScrutinizer. Paste the signal in the upper window of "Scrutinize signal" pane. Then select the "Export" pane, select the "Text" (or "Girr") format and make sure that "UEI learned" checkbox is selected. Press "Export signal" This generates a text file that contains the UEI learned form.

Thanks a lot!
You are the only person who answered my question directly!!
I have asked this question on other forums but never got a straight answer.

I just tested the raw code from above in IRscrutinizer. It does work converting the raw code to to UEI code, however it's not the same as the above UEI code.

By following your instructions, I pasted this text:
+8998 -4500 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -1690 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -562 +560 -40514 +8998 -2250 +560 -96716

I should get:
14 22 18 00 D1 83 24 24 55 55 55 55 44 44 44 45 44 45 55 54 44 44 55 51 30 82 30

I am getting:
00 00 2E 00 D2 06 11 90 08 C8 01 14 03 49 01 14 01 14 01 14 4F 18 11 90 04 6A 01 14 BC BE 24 01 22 22 22 22 11 11 11 12 11 12 22 21 11 11 22 23 45

Am I doing something wrong?

here is the output file:

IrScrutinizer captured signal
+8993 -4497 +552 -1683 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -552 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -1683 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -552 +552 -40496 +8993 -2261 +552 -96637

The given UEI forms (all 3 of them) decode to the same (protocol = NEC1-rnc, device = 1, obc = 14), although with a repeat in the first case. So they are in a sense equivalent.

For the conversion, IrScrutinizer just hands the signals to the Java version of ExchangeIR, written by Graham Dixon (mathdon).

Normally, a JP1 user would simply create a device upgrade with the appropriate OBCs, not generate UEI learned format signals. The former takes only a byte or two, the latter 40-50 times that. I don't understand why UEI learned codes are needed at all under normal circumstances.
