I have found spreadsheets saying they have every single Sony code under the sun, and websites that are supposedly the one stop shop for all Sony codes. I've also scoured this site. I've even tried manually learning these codes with my USB-UIRT. I can't make heads or tails of the information that I've found here and at other sites, and my USB-UIRT is generating codes that don't work.

I feel like the information is out there, I just can't figure out how to make it work for me. I have IR Scrutinizer downloaded and can use it to generate pronto codes, but have no clue how to determine the protocol, device, subdevice, etc. for my receiver.

Would someone please hold my hand and help me figure out the codes for this receiver? I need discrete codes for HDMI1, HDMI2, ON, and OFF at the very minimum, but would like to learn how to generate these codes myself with the resources available so that I can eventually map each and every button from the original remote to my custom setup.

Thanks!

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to lend me a hand. I've been bumbling around at hifi-remote.com and with your help and ALOT of trial and error with my (seemingly sub-par) IR capture device, I've managed to piece together some pronto hex codes for the functions I need.

From my limited understanding of what's going on, I think my USB_UIRT was only capturing part of the full code. I just sat there learning and test transmitting over and over until I got lucky. Each button took a good 20-30 minutes before I got lucky and captured something usable. Even then, it was incomplete.

For example, when pressing HDMI1 on the OEM remote, the receiver powers on from standby AND switches to HDMI1. When learning that function, 95% of the time the USB-UIRT would capture a useless code. Eventually I was able to capture a code that switched to HDMI *IF* the receiver was already powered on (here it is if some other poor bastard stumbles across this thread):

HDMI1

The same story with HDMI2:

HDMI2
0000 0067 0022 0015 0060 0019 0030 0019 0001 0004 0011 0018 0001 0004 0011 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0030 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0018 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0001 0004 0011 0019 0001 0004 0011 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0001 0004 0029 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0001 0004 0011 0019 0018 0019 0001 0004 002A 0019 0018 0019 0030 0018 0001 0004 0011 0019 0018 0271 0060 0018 0030 0018 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0030 0018 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0271

When attempting to learn the power toggle button, I actually stumbled upon discrete off after umpteenjillion tries:

OFF
0000 0067 0013 0010 0002 0004 0058 0018 0002 0004 0028 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0001 0004 0029 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0019 0018 0019 0031 0018 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0360 0060 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0018 0019 0031 0019 0030 0019 0018 0019 0018 0360

Now by the grace of the Gods of Infrared and the High Deities of Fat Fingers, I happened to discover that transmitting HDMI1 followed by HDMI2 in quick succession actually has the same results as pressing HDMI2 on the OEM remote.  i.e. it will power on the receiver from standby and switch to HDMI2.  Analogously, transmitting HDMI2 followed quickly by HDMI1 powers on to HDMI1.  This inspired me to do some more experiments, and I found that OFF-OFF in quick succession works for Power Toggle.

Finally, I hunkered down and eventually discovered the volume codes.

Hopefully these codes will be of use to someone else as well.  It would help me justify the HOURS that I have spent acquiring them.  Thanks again @mdavej for helping me get on the right track.

No problem. Glad you figured it out. $16 worth of JP1 remote (Nevo C2) makes an excellent capture device (and universal remote). Could save you a lot of time and effort in the future.

Curious, what is this "custom" remote you're putting all these pronto code into? Why not just use an actual learning remote and skip all this nonsense?

BTW, I updated my post with the correct codes per your learns. Seems HDMI1, etc. have different names like BD, etc.

I'm using Unified Remote on my HTPC. It's connected to a projector in my bedroom and a plasma in the main room. As long as my wife or I have our cell phones within reach, we've got his and hers remotes. I also setup an old Droid RZR as a remote for visitors (babysitters or whatever).

Thanks again!
