Hopper 3 does a few things differently than previous Dish receivers. I'm hoping someone can help track down codes since you can't learn commands from it's remote (RF only).

Search used to be on the # button at the bottom of the keypad. H3 changes that to Help. I found a couple codes here on Remote Central but they all call up the help menu.

H3 has a Home button. A code for this would be handy although you can get there from the menu.

H3 has an Apps button. The Blue button calls up apps but only if you are viewing without anything else displayed.

H3 has an Options button. Red does the same thing, at least in most contexts. I'm not sure if this would be good enough.

Do you have any universal remotes? Depending on what type, you could try all 64 possible commands and discover the new/moved commands in about 5 minutes. If your universal takes pronto hex, use IRScrutinizer to generate all the commands using Dish Network protocol, D 0, S 0, F 0..63, export format text. It will save you some time if you only try the as yet unused OBCs (F codes): 17, 21, 25, 29, 40, 42-44, 46, 48, 51, 62

The original # (search) was 38.

If you have a JP1 remote, these can be tested very easily without programming. Setup the remote for Dish (setup code CBL 0775 or 00775), then tap Setup then each of the following. The command is sent when the last digit is pressed. If none of the commands do anything, then IR codes for them do not exist.

Thanks for the tip. I could not get IRScrutinizer to run on Mac OS 10.11 or Windows 10 but did get MakeHex to generate the 64 codes and did find SEARCH:

Device Code: 0.0 Function: 45 Search
0000 0048 0001 0011 0018 0162 0018 005E 0018 00A5 0018 005E 0018 005E 0018 00A5 0018 005E 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 00A5 0018 0162

Thanks

I looked up 45, and there it is in the JP1 database as Search already, plain as day. Been there all along. Glad you found it anyway.

Did the other codes do anything new?

Here are all the known codes:

Here are the differences I found:

19 Red - The new H3 remote does not have colored buttons. It has an OPTIONS button instead and this is the code for that. The 4 color buttons continue to work on H3 however. It's just that Red is always the first selection.

23 Swap is no op on H3 (61 but PIP Swap does work)
38 # (Search) -- # is 3 (Help) on H3
39 Discrete Off behaves as Power ON on H3
41 SAT -- on H3 turns off the "remote mode reminder" message
42 on H3, turns on the "remote mode reminder" message
47 Recover is no op on H3
52 Dish (VOD on H3)
56 System Wizard is no op on H3
58 is PIP menu on H3
60 PIP Side by Side is no op on H3
