I am a certified Crestron Programmer and have been using the version 7.7 discrete IR codes for a few years now. They were working amazingly on the Samsung UNxxxxxx model tvs.

Until I purchased the UN40H5003. The discrete power on/off command does not work on this TV, along with discrete input selection. However power toggle and source toggle does work.

After a little digging on the internet, I found some Logitech forums that have end users seeing the same exact result with this model, that their discrete commands don't work, but their toggling commands do.

I tried contacting Samsung tech support directly, and they referred me back to my 'universal remote company'. Ugh.

For those who are going to repost the mega list of the Samsung commands, I have tried every.single.one.of.them. All 250ish of them. When I try and use the discrete commands, this particular tv says "Not Available" in response to the command.

Anyone have any other info that could help me and others out?

You not alone with this issue, Both Samsung and Panasonic have this issue on some new sets there are no discrete codes.

I think this may become a more common thing in the future,, but they have also removed the serial port as well.. not making it easy for integration..

Manufactures are all slowly moving over to an App based control, yet some sets need an IR code to turn on the TV befor you can use the App.

Spent many many hours on the phone to manufactures trying to get TCP/ip commands from them , it is easier to get blood out of a stone...

Most reply that it is confidential information, even when I explain the issues they are causing , they just don't care!.

I have ran into the same issue with this model of television. After speaking with samsung tech support 3 times they were no help. I decided to try the video chat so i could tell if they even knew what i was talking about. The tech has sent my problem to a higher tier of tech support and they will be emailing me discreet hex codes for infared control. i will post these when i receive them.

Cheers,

Kyle

I'm starting to see a shift of some manufactures moving more towards integration.  Some just don't care.  Samsung has always been challenging from their discrete codes based on year models, their lack of standard serial connector, and their year-behind-sony on quantum dot.

That being said, I would first like this disclaimer that I am not an old integrator.  (By old installer, I mean someone who was installing / integrating previous to HD TVs being around.  [So previous to year 2000]).  I say this to suggest that I have 'stayed with the times' as technology has changed and embraced these changes.

.....However.....

IP control is JUST NOT THERE.  It isn't.  It's inconsistent, unreliable, and I would NEVER recommend it in mission-critical applications.  --This is usually where someone mentions networking--  "sideways glance at URC" -- I don't care how good your network is put together, there are always going to be drops packets, unforwarded frames, lost segments.  With serial and IR, we ask a device to do one thing and only one thing.  Transmit this electrical signal.  With IP, we are dependent on the TCP/IP stack, driver translations, other bits on the wire.

I say all of that to say, I can't imagine wasting time on the phone with a manufacturer for IP commands.  At the end of the day, it's only a half-finished solution that isn't terribly reliable.  It blows my mind how deep people reach for IP commands when picking up a remote and firing an IR code is more likely to work and much easier.

I too talked to Samsung tech support via email and web chat. I'm glad that you may have gotten further than I did. They were pretty much useless.

Well it turns out they were in fact useless. They were going to send me controls through the EXlink, They never did this... and it isnt the type of communication i needed. I also talked to samsung about operating the smarthub with IR and they are eliminated that as well and going to bluetooth with the tiny remotes tey are supplying. Should be another fun obstacle for integrators.

Cheers.

Just don't use the smart features. Install an appletv or a roku and be done with it.

4k content not available this way.

Actually, 4k content isn't really available at all.  Unless you're counting youtube videos.

I'm glad I have my 8k Mac monitor so I can see the standard 480/720 nonsense in all its perfect clarity.

Hi,

I think I have a similar problem with that reported.
I have a Samsung SmartTV UN40ES6100G and I am unable to configure the discretes IR codes. The TV manual has no information and honestly do not know what to do.

Have control called Amulet and it can record TV of the original control keys on it.
But the Amulet has more keys than the control of the TV. For this reason, I have sought a way to can record other commands in Amulet.

I bought a universal remote control but failed. The only command that could identify was the skipminus.

I wish I could solve this problem. I do not know if there is in control of Samsung some combination of keys which can trigger other commands.

I thought about buying a MCE IR Blaster device but do not know if this is the correct path.

If anyone can help me with this issue would be great because I'm already many days trying to find some solution to no avail.

Thanks

I have the same TV. I used 10812. If you have an older remote make sure the switch on the remote is set to TV mode Before you start programming it.

Hey moron, different remotes from UEI use different prefixes for the devices, the majority use 1**** for tv's, your's just happens to use 0**** for tv's.
