Hi All

Just moved and forgot my remote at the old place. Ordered a new one, the Sony RM-VZ220, and I programmed my TV just fine...

My receiver, Yamaha HTR-5550, however, has been giving me problems. I tried all the codes I found for "Yamaha" devices in the manual, and a few more I found online. No luck. Anyone have incredible knowledge and can help?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
I've also found many Yamaha 4-digit codes, but it seems like my remote takes 5 digits for it to set?? Anyone have any input on this?

It looks to me like the RM-VZ220 is not designed to control Audio components, and so by design it isn't going to control your Yamaha receiver. However, you might want to look up RM-VZ620 setup codes (5 digits) for Yamaha receivers and see if the RM-VZ220 remote will accept them. Doesn't cost anything.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to get a different remote.  For the Yamaha, many of the discrete commands are not built into universals, so it would probably be best to get a RCRP05B (manually programmable to send many Yamha signals, or computer programmable for all signals with a $10 interface cable) or OARUSB04G (computer programmable via standard micro USB cable).
