The sharp representative sent me the discrete codes for on and off for my new 70 inch.
Power On(only)1000101010010101114A Power Off(only)1000111010010101114B
How do I convert the above into three digit numbers to use with my urc 7201b04 so I can then learn it on my MX-500?

I don't think you can. These correspond to Sharp IR protocol device 17, function 74 and 75, and Sharp started usng device 17 after your remote was made, I think.
If your remote has setup code TV 0689, or you can find one that does (Atlas, e.g.) then use EFCs On = 160 (00160 for newer remotes) and Off = 156 (00156).
Otherwise, you'll need a newer remote, like a Comcast DVR. Use setup code Audio 1360 (31360 in remotes that take 5 digit setup codes) EFC On = 43368 and Off = 43496.
If you need to buy a new remote, get the RCA RCRP05B (<$20) It has both TV 0689 and Audio 1360, and a lot of other codes you may need in the future.

Wonder if he could borrow a DirecTV remote, program for Sharp TV functionality, then use the ON and OFF buttons to learn into the MX-500?

Naturally, I tried 3FG's advice. Device code 17 worked, but the discrete on and off did not. I also tried device code 0689, but that did not take.
My next step then is to take Freddy's advice and find someone with a DirecTV remote, or purchase the RCA programmable per 3FG.
In any event, I appreciate your guys input, as it would be difficult to proceed without it.
