Just got off the phone with Panasonic customer support. Very frustrating. Probably off shore. Anyway, I'm told that Panasonic no longer supports discrete codes for Plasma Televisions. They are sending this statement to me in writing. Can this be true? I pointed them to their own website at [Link: panasonic.com] asking for updated info and they claim that they stopped supporting discrete codes in 2008. I would not have bought a Panasonic Plasma model TC-P65VT50 if I knew this! Has anyone else been able to get discrete codes to work on recent Pannys?

I have a TC-P54V10, which I believe is a 2009 model. All the discrete codes are on that TV (ON OFF HDMI-inputs etc). Some of the discrete codes which were on a 2002 professional model is no longer there (like picture aspect).

There was a RS232 on the V10 which as a LOT more discrete codes (like setting the volume level to anything between 0 to 100). This port has been removed on the VT50. But I understand there is an IP control that could be used.

Would have to think that most if not all televisions will be moving toward IP control...
