Anyone got codes for the above they could share? I've tried the Power Off code for every Goodmans TV Codeset in Pronto Pro Edit NG for my RU980 (European TSU7000) without success.

I read through the article at [Link: remotecentral.com] with a view to generating my own codes and hoping to find workable codes through brute force and ignorance. The very short codes I captured don't look like they comply with the Sony standard discussed in the article however, with each code looking exactly the same right up until the very last four characters. i.e. 900A 0068 0000 0001 08F7 xxxx.

If I created every combination of xxxx from 0000 to FFFF, I'd never manage to get my way through the 65 thousand or so codes! Any tools or logic I could apply to generate a sensible sized subset of likely codes to test?

Many thanks in advance for help or insight,

Cheers,

Fergus.

Sure.  900A implies that these codes are NEC1 IR protocol.  08F7 means that they are device 8.  Notice how 08 and F7 add up to 255?  I strongly suspect that you'll see the same behavior in the function numbers (your xxxx) also, because that's how NEC1 signals are constructed.  8 bits of function number are followed by 8 bits of the binary complement of the function number.

So now you only have 256 different signals to try.

Clear and concise answer, thank you very much! I'll experiment with the 256 permutations and post back for others if I find any workable discrete codes.

Thanks again,

Fergus.

In case anyone stumbles upon this in the future, I can confirm that none of the 256 valid entries exhibited 'discrete' behaviours for the Goodans Freeview TV. At least I can say I gave it a go though!
