I am a retired engineer and have for the last 8 years have been able to use my Philips ProntoNeo TSU500 universal remote control to control my home theater which includes a Comcast / Scientific Atlanta cable box. Very recently my old box had a problem and Comcast replaced it with a new, all digital, Cisco RNS150N. Now I am unable to "teach" my remote the IR codes for the RNS150N so that I can continue to use my universal remote. I have spent hours on the Internet trying to get any information and on the phone with Comcast but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be different with the new cable box?

The RNG100/150/200 series boxes use the XMP IR protocol, which some older remotes have trouble learning.  If you can use Pronto Hex to program your remote, see this thread.   Youl'll need to check all thre pages to get all of the codes.

Besides the 47 IR signals listed in posts #11 and #16, what functions are you looking for?

All of the ones on the Comcast remote

I found this link for the remote: [Link: irtek.wikidot.com]

It seems to have a code for each function but I tried entering some of them with Neohacker and it did not work. I obviously don't understand the syntax or something more basic.

I don't understand the issue.  The thread linked above lists Pronto Hex for all of the functions available on the Comcast remote, excepting volume+/- and Mute.  These last three functions are not implemented in the RNG150.  In other words, all of the useful buttons are listed.  Frankly I have to wonder if you have really looked at posts 11 and 16.

Are you not able to enter Pronto Hex into your Pronto?  The wikidot info is not in a format that is useful to a Pronto Remote, but the above linked Pronto Hex is useful.

Sorry, I misread your first reply as "you'll need to check all three pages" instead of "you'll need to check all the pages", so I did not go far enough through the pages.

Now I have your codes and I entered several of them into my .ncf file with Neohacker.

So far, no success. The RNG150N does not respond.

To be sure I am doing it correctly, I entered the appropriate code into the box at the bottom of the Neohacker page then hit "save parameter" for each button. Then I saved the file and loaded it into the ProntoNeo TSU500. Is this correct?

By the way is there a way to cut and paste the codes in Neohacker?

Sorry to ask such a basic question but this is my first attempt.

Someone else will have to help on how to work with the Pronto software.  You should probably post with a link to this thread in the pronto Classic forum, because that's where the folks that understand Pronto remotes hang out.

By the way, we may have some terminology confusion--the above linked thread has three pages and 37 posts-- or at least it does on my computer.

I tried posting on the other forum as suggested but no response.

I entered the following code for "power":

0000 006C 0012 0012 0008 0023 0008 0043 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 0033 0008 0033 0008 002D 0008 0068 0008 01F3 0008 0023 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 0C45 0008 0023 0008 0043 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 0033 0008 0033 0008 002D 0008 0068 0008 01F3 0008 0023 0008 0048 0008 0048 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 0C45

The ProntoNeo TSU 500 created the following Pronto code:

0 f 6c 9 60 91 8 1d 23 2d 33 43 48 68 6e 3f 5f 88 13 3e 4d c3 f4 f0 7b
81 44 44 f8 44 f0 1b c9 2b e2 84 4f d3 30 3d fc 5e 20 3c 3c 11 3e 11 7c 3

This did not work and there is no transmission (output LED doesn't turn on)

The learned the "Power" code from the Comcast remote is:

0 f 6c 8 5f a4 9 1b 69 21 31 41 2c 46 3f 7f 30 50 10 20 40 40 60 20 0 bf 17
30 10 10 10 10 20 10 10 0 bf a4 f0 a 3 5 1 2 4 4 6 2 f0 7b 1 3 7 7 1 1 2 1 1 f0 d

it is very unreliable, works sometimes but only maybe 1 in 10 tries.
