Hi,

I have had a recommendation to come here to see if anyone can help with getting commands for my screen. The screen is made by DRH and came with unbranded remotes. I had no trouble getting my old Harmony One to learn commands from it, but I am having extreme difficulty getting the learner in the Global Cache itach device to learn them.

After numerous attempts I managed to get it learn the down command but not the stop or up commands. I don't know what the experts on here do to work out or make codes but I will post the down command that I have got working in case it assists anyone with solving my problem. This is the down code that works

0000 0068 0000 001D 000B 0035 000F 0030 0010 0044 0010 01EC 0030 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0030 0030 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0030 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0030 0010 0010 0030 0030 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0030 0010 0010 0030 0010 0044 0010 0F80

I would appreciate any help in solving my problem codes,

Thank you,

Graham

This IR protocol is similar to the F12 protocol, but appears to have 24 or perhaps 25 bits instead of 12. One learned signal isn't enough information to be able to decode this. Please post some learns, noting if they work or not, for several functions.

Hi 3FG,

I have made some more attempts at learning the stop and up commands. I seemed to have more success in actually getting a code into the itach learner this time, but none of them work. Here are the latest attempts

I have tried them all with the default setting of three repeats (that is what the working down command is using) and again with 1 in the repeat box

Thank you for your reply,

Graham

One more request. Can you post these in the Global Cache format? We've seen before that the GC utilities to convert to/from Pronto Hex have some oddities.

Thanks.

I've had some time to look at these signals. The Down signal seems to be the least well captured, even though it is the one that works.
Please try the following signals in Global Cache format. These signals are intended to be identical to your Stop and Up learns, but I've seen before that the GC format may be more succcessful.

Down
sendir,mod-addr:conn-addr,1234,40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,68, 16,3850

Up
sendir,mod-addr:conn-addr,1234,40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,68, 16,3850

Stop
sendir,mod-addr:conn-addr,1234,40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,36, 16,3850

The 2 marked in yellow is the number of repeats, and you may want to adjust that.   I assume that you already know the actual mod and connector address you're using, and can substitute that in place of "mod-addr:conn-addr".

If you don't have it, here's the description of the GC format.

Hi 3FG,

I have only used HEX codes before. How do I use the GC codes. I see there is a section in the irule builder for GC codes but I don't know how much of it to paste in. Do I paste it in just from the numbers or the complete thing from the word "sendir"???

In the meantime I will post the GC codes as requested. The first part is the generated code from the initial "learn" from the top box. The second part is the result of the save which appears in the lower box

Thanks again for taking the time to help

EDIT:- Just looked at the GC link you posted. Most of that went right over my head!!!

Hi 3FG

I have tried pasting the codes you posted into the GC area of my irule builder. I noticed that I do not have the option to set repeats like I do with HEX codes. All I have is "repeat on hold" yes or no and "repeat every (sec)" where I can enter a time.

The code you provided defaulted to yes for the repeat on the up command and no to the stop command. I have tried both with no and yes. I have also tried three versions. One with everything included, the second one with this part removed "sendir,mod-addr:conn-addr," and the third with this removed "sendir,mod-addr:conn-addr,1234,40000,2,1,16,500, " This was because I didn't know how much of it to use.

I have had no success with any version,

Graham

EDIT:- Well, will probably have to scratch all the tests I have done so far. I have just noticed that the output light is not flashing on any of the stop or up commands I have tried so far. I have even deleted the panel and made up a new one from scratch. The down command is still working and obviously flashing the output light but the other commands don't flash the light with any format.

EDIT:- Deleted and made new panel again and erased original. Have now got the output light to flash with some of the up and stop commands now, but still not operating. Down command still working.

EDIT:- Just looked at the GC link you posted. Most of that went right over my head!!!

Graham, try eliminating the data before the frequency in you string. For example.

Down
40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,68, 16,3850

Up
40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,68, 16,3850

Stop
40000,2,1,16,500, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 48,16, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 48,16, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 16,48, 48,36, 16,3850

I would change the repeat from 2 to 3.

Mike

Hi Mike, there is no column to change the repeat for GC codes like there is for HEX codes, Do you mean actually change the number that 3FG highlighted after the number 40000 from a 2 to a 3?

Thanks,

Graham

EDIT:- Mike, I just tried adding these codes to the GC area of my screen device. I made two sets of DOWN, STOP & UP commands. I physically changed the number to 2 on the second set after the 40000. I tried it but nothing worked. It isn't flashing the output light next to the jack plug again.

Don't know what to do next

cheers,

Graham

Yes, the number after the frequency is the repeat number. It's odd that you were able to get one code working, which tells me you're almost there. There was a suggestion on AVS to open the case on the iTach and trying again, have you done that? Do you know anyone with a Pronto? My pronto always learned codes very easily. As a last resort, you can ship your remote to Itai and he can capture the codes for you.

Graham,
I don't have a GC unit and know nothing about the user interface. However, I want to compare in GC format the non-working learned signals to the working Down signal, so please post the learned Down signal.

I'd also like to know if the candidate signal for Down I provided (or a variant of that) worked.

Hi 3FG,

the only DOWN code I have that works is the original HEX code in my first post. I do not have a CG code at all for this command.

None of the codes you provided worked or the variations of them that I tried. However, I think that a lot of the time there was no output from my itach because I later realised most of the commands weren't operating the IR output light.

irule support has provided some success. They have got my up command working which is the important one. I think they solved it by logging on to my Harmony account, loading my set up into one of their Harmonys and extracting the code from there.

The unusual thing is that the STOP and DOWN codes they gave me don't flash the IR output light on my itach. The UP command did flash the light however and actually worked. It may be that some of the other codes you and Mike have supplied would work but I don't know why the output light isn't flashing with any of them. Perhaps the codes aren't complete or something??? These are the codes that they sent me with the UP command the only one that worked.

Have you contacted DRH to see if they can provide the specification of the IR protocol?

I sent them an email Thursday morning and phoned them Friday afternoon in the hope that they could give me the codes for the weekend. The guy I spoke to couldn't help but said he would pass the info onto someone that might be able to.

irules support said that my output light should flash even if the code is wrong, it's just that a lot of the time it doesn't. They said they would look into this problem. After they logged on to my Harmony account they said that the code is sent in very short bursts and difficult to work with.

At least I have a working UP and DOWN command now. I don't really need the STOP command so will probably delete the button.

Thank you for your continued help and interest,

regards,

Graham
