I'm trying to find some discrete hex codes and the vendor provided me a list of them, but they're in 4 digit format (i.e. 0x81). I thought I could use MAKEHEX to convert that into something of the old Pronto HEX format - but couldn't figure out how to do it - any ideas / suggestions? Thanks, Shawn

i like to use a program called IR Code Doctor to easily generate codes given to me in that format. http://www.ir-toolkit.com/just be sure to read the help section for instructions on how to convert the codes.

Duct - I downloaded it and read the instructions - but I'm missing something - as I can't get it to work.
I'm putting in 0x81 and it just keeps giving me errors. What do I put in for the system and what do I put in for the command (I'm assuming I'm creating an RC5 command???)

the system code should be listed in the document the vendor provided to you. this will stay the same for each code you are generating. the command field will differ for each function.
bascially, you right click the empty box, select new code, then select the type of code (rc5, rc5x, or nec)
then you enter the system code and command code
then click ok and you will end up with a hex string
then right click anywhere in the box and select "convert to raw"
now you will have a full pronto hex command that can be copied and pasted into whatever program you are using.
if you like, you can email me the document and I can generate a few for you to show you how. my email is in my profile.

I guess that's the problem - I don't know the SYSTEM CODE - it's a BenQ projector - but they didn't provide it. I searched in the forums here and tried a 141 NEC - but that didn't seem to work (generated IR - but it didn't work). Grrr....

Don't worry - I gave up and decided to write the driver in serial. I found another document elsewhere that walked me through it - just tested it and it worked. Thanks anyways... damn shame on BenQ (but reading here in the forums - it seems a lot of people have had issues with BenQ).

@slemay Have you posted these codes here? I am trying to control a BenQ SP890.
