Hi!

Anybody knows where to find discrete codes for a Sony MD-deck? My model is MDSJA20ES.

needed codes:

- Off
- On
- input numbers
- input characters lowercase
- input characters uppercase
- input other/special characters

May be there are even other discrete codes for this MD-deck?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Erik!

I must admit: not really!
My knowledge about all this technical details concerning IR-codes is very limited. So I was very confused reading the information on these two links.

Nevertheless: Thanks!

By the way: I wrote an email to Sony asking for the discrete codes for my MDSJA20ES Minidisk-Deck. They answered, that factory regulations do not permit to give the codes to any customers. (Seems to be some new kind of customer service - never again a Sony!?)

Try this instead. here are all the commands for a Sony mini-disk this is from RHM5757's excellent Sony website.

To use these, download John Fine's MakeHex

[Link: remotecentral.com]

The other things you need to know: Device 15 uses teh Sony12 protocol and 29.97 uses the 20 bit Sony protocol. Make Hex treats it as one big 13 bit device code and 29.97 => 2970 (29+32*97).

I think using MakeHex is well documented in the readme, but once you download and look around, I'll be glad to answer questions.

As far as Sony, if having discrete commands available and consistent is a criteria for purchase then Sony is a good choice. They probably need a little work on their customer relations. But their commands are so well known and published, I wouldn't be concenred.

Hi, jarmstrong!

Thanks a lot! I will try these codes end see if they work. Think, it'll take me some time, because:

... "The other things you need to know: Device 15 uses teh Sony12 protocol and 29.97 uses the 20 bit Sony protocol. Make Hex treats it as one big 13 bit device code and 29.97 => 2970 (29+32*97)"

... doesn't make things more comprehensive to me! Till now, programming my ProntoPro was very interesting and funny, but acting with all these cryptic hex-codes, bits and bytes.... not too easy for a beginner!

O.k., thanks a lot and "Merry Christmas"!!!

I found discrete on/off in the "Discrete code collection " (Files> ProntoNEO> Other> Programs> Utilities).
They work fine with my MDS JA 50 ES!
